This answer leaves unanswered the reason why Quest 3 requires phone access. The device is sophisticated enough to browse the Oculus store and download apps, yet Meta seems to be using this feature as a way to collect user data without their knowledge or consent. If the purpose of the app is to facilitate a smooth transition from an old device to a new one, or to manage multiple devices, then it should be presented as an optional feature rather than a requirement. As it stands, the mandatory phone access policy reeks of exploitation and mistrust. In my opinion, this is nothing more than spyware, and Meta knows it!

It's difficult for me to read some of the web responses without suspecting that they are either paid for by Meta or written by Meta employees. The software is experience-breaking, and I'm not alone in my struggles. Yesterday, I had to perform hard boots six times (that's not an exaggeration), and I don't believe I have a faulty unit. The default apps simply don't seem to function correctly. If users are expected to purchase Virtual Desktop and a variety of other apps just to have a decent experience, then it's clear that the Quest 3 is not ready for prime time.
