[deleted] Very valid expectation but at most before this election cycle I expect the governments to try and implement lockdowns again in order to drive mail in ballots like they did last time. I think there will be some friction but they wont be able to implement the same level of lockdowns as they did in the past. That is unless, another flu strand "suddenly" happens to make itself out into the wild that is actually marginally worse than the covid strand. That I would not put it past the establishment and could very well happen. But a full blown war before this election is highly unlikely in my opinion. It will happen in the second half of this decade, without a doubt though.

I agree, all those naval vessels are not there for a strip of land that is the size of a small town. They need Syria as a buffer between Israel and Iran.

Its a bit like when Putin piled up his troops all along the borders of Belarus and then kept telling everyone they were there for 'military drills'.

China have bought some of their naval vessels to the regions for some 'military drills' and Turkey have completely changed rhetoric in the space of a couple of days with diplomats being removed from embassies for the last couple of weeks.

[deleted] Perhaps that is the move. Both strategic locations for the US. It still doesnt sit well with me that the defense department and the government in general operates like a business and the defense department has to have budgets. Coming from the private sector you will realize that no department ever wants to come completely under their budget or else they will get less the following year, they also dont want to make themselves look like they are unnecessary so certain events remind everyone why it is that we spend as much as we do. I cant help but think of this every time a new "war" breaks out and the US always has to have its nose in it and spend billions of tax dollars. Im not suggesting anything, I just dont think things should be run the way they currently are. I dont like the fact that certain people and organizations have a ton of money to make everytime we go to war and without conflict they start to starve, that would absolutely give rise to people starting to question special interests every time a conflict breaks out.
