I think my suggestion was very reasoned and a lot more reasonable than that "we can offer you a bigger downoad limit for more money" reply.

Increasing the download limits for long-term continuous subscribers would increase the motivation for them to actually stay subscribed in order to not lose the benefits. Customer loyaltly is crucial in the subscription business and more long-term subscribers result in a much more stable business for SLR. Granting more downloads to long-term subscribers shouldn't result in more server stress on the average because there's little reason to believe that these people who are already using the site for months or years suddenly now just instantly download everything only becaue they have a higher limit. It's just some additional convenience for the long-term subscribers with zero to very little direct costs for SLR but actually a better customer retention which might result in additional profit.

Offering an extended downloads option for normal subscriptions has pretty much no long-term effect and might actually piss your long-term customers off since they already paid SLR a lot of money for their ongoing subscription. And such an option would in no way prevent download scamming from new "customers" who subscribe to the site only to download as much as possible on the first day.

So it would be a win-win situation for both SLR and their most loyal fans/subscribers.

Just playing devils advocate a bit here but they really have no incentive to do anything to please lifetime subscribers. They have already received all the money they’re going to get from them so those people are probably low on the list of priorities as they generate zero revenue. Similarly those who’ve been members for years, they know it’s unlikely that the vast majority of those people are going anywhere or that the vast majority of those people ever come close to hitting the existing download limit anyway, they don’t need to sweeten the deal.

I do understand what you’re saying, that long term subscribers have proved that they’re not here to just fleece the site for all the content in one swoop and then pirate it out so am not disagreeing that it wouldn’t be a nice show of goodwill on their part. I’m just not sure that they’ll feel they need to do that.

    Content doesn't exist on these sites forever. Rebranding, content restrictions, expiring contracts - there's no guarantee the scene you like will always be available. It's why downloading is an essential feature to me.

    The only reason I can watch Asian Delight: Royal Flush is because I downloaded and saved it. It's not on the site anymore and if it ever comes back, it will be heavily edited.

        That has nothing to do with being into a rush. But personally, I sometimes just dive through the network and search for stuff I like, may it be certain studios or certain tags and then I want to download a bunch of scenes that I found and which please me. I don't want to come back to this search on a daily basis or whatever, looking through again what I might have already downloaded the last 5 times and what not, I just want to download the 20 or 30 scenes and want to add them to my local colleciton when I search for them. Or maybe I just bought a new hard drive and I'm finally able to downoad more scenes. Of course I want to download a bunch of scenes on my wishlist to enjoy them. That's convenience. Shouldn't be that hard to understand.

        Then I download some and get a message very soon that I only have 3 downloads left for the next three days which is pretty sad if there for example 4 or 5 days in the next 3 days that I want to watch and download.

        That seriously diminishes my experience on the network.

        There is no need. But it'll cost them pretty much nothing but improves the customer experience. Like I said, win-win situation, even if it only applies to a few people. I don't see any negative for SLR to be honest. I have no idea why you feel the need to be the "devil's advocate" here. What's in it for you to argue against more features for the customer, especially if they come at pretty much zero cost? I don't understand your motivation for this post.

                I remember I had to download a few VRConk scenes when we were told that they were being removed. Luckily I don’t download a ton of scenes on a regular basis (I still have about 9TB though!) so I had enough leeway to get what I needed.

                That could be something to consider. If they are going to be losing a studio, they could relax the rules around that time to allow people to get what they need. Maybe exclude those scenes from the limit, if that’s possible.

                I don’t think anyone will win this argument with them though. People complained very strongly at the time that they reduced the download limit and it made no difference. They just carried on regardless as it’s such a tiny fraction of people who get anywhere near the limit.

                I can see both sides of it, there are undoubtedly some people who legitimately wish to download a lot of scenes as they don’t have the bandwidth to stream satisfactorily and check out the scene first to see if it’s worth a download. They just download everything and then delete the stuff that’s no good.

                I can also see that SLR have to protect their content from bad faith members who engage in mass downloading for piracy purposes or completely overload the servers.

                    There's no bending over backwards. It's perfectly legit to not offering the whole catalogue of scenes for people on day one after they invested like 20 bucks for a monthly sub for download. I understand the reasoning behind limiting downloads for new people.

                    The question is whether SLR is willing to listen to good suggestions that go beyond that black or white workld and that cost them little to nothing but improve the experience for some of their most loyal long-time customers while all protective measures against download spamming for new users are still in place - or whether SLR just directly rejects the idea out of false pride.

                      Hairsational Just look at the most recent blog post about the new codecs they are exploring outside of h.265, they specifically mention that they will provide even smaller file sizes to improve the streaming performance. I dont think they will phase out downloads anytime soon but they are for sure heavily focused on making streaming the number one priority. The one thing I hope they dont phase out are the "Original" size downloads and replace them with a bunch of compressed versions only to save space. I like having the option to download the original size footage.

But since they mention that implementation of the new codec will result in reduced bandwith costs, this seems to be off the table already.

                            LordCrash it’s just that there were weeks and weeks of arguments about reduced download limits and they didn’t change a thing. Just explaining why they won’t change it before it all starts up again.

                            What you’re suggesting is reasonable but there’s obviously a reason why they reduced it and I don’t see them changing anything. The suggestion from doubleVR for people to pay extra for what everyone used to get as part of their subscription isn’t particularly helpful either.

                              Please increase the download limit for the Sex toy Scripts. The current limit is too low for us who does not have high bandwidth internet connection. I had opted for the Life Membership so that I can download the videos at the highest quality and play them with sex toy scripts. But after subscription I am getting such meagre limits!

                              For what reason(s) are more downloads required? I normally just stream from DeoVR for DLR and use Heresphere for POVR. The whole point I bought these subscriptions was to not have to invest in expensive ssd's to store videos.

                                theHobbit some people don’t have great wireless speeds so they download and watch via their PC to avoid constant buffering when streaming.

                                SLR also have a habit of removing videos with no warning when they change their compliance thresholds so people like to keep their favourites in case they are taken down.

                                Also just the obvious thing where people may not want to keep paying SLR forever in order to watch certain scenes. They can download what they want and watch it as often as they like even after cancelling their subscription.

                                              Not to play ball on the negative side of this discussion, but extremely heavy users may end up costing the site more than what they make in subscription fees. For these users, the fair option would be to pay their share by purchasing individual movies if their needs go well beyond what is considered 'fair use'.
