I'm having an intermitted problem where a video stall/freezes several times to the point of being completed non-operating sometimes. It's extremely frustrating!! And it's been occurring for several months now but I just haven't complained about it. I thought it might be a bandwidth problem so one time I made sure all the wi-fi connections in the home were off or not connecting. Didn't change anything. I also lowered the resolution of the video to 1440. Didn't change anything.

What's the fix here?

bloodrush And it's been occurring for several months

I reported this too a while back, I get them freezes when I'm in my favorites section, like I can click on a video and it'll freeze b4 playing for a few seconds and then play but once it plays using the player is jittery. 🤷‍♂️

I have run into something like this as well when playing videos via PC usb link, in deoVr on Quest 2. I suspect an issue with the quest 2, as restarting it seems to help. But not 100%.

Guys, it would really help if you gave us some information about your devices, software, and setup as well 😃

For example, I just discovered, while troubleshooting another user's issue, that if you use

    • Unity + VR (ie DeoVR)
    • Vive
    • Nvidea 4090

You might run into an issue with supersampling, causing excessive GPU usage and issues with playback. Setting the PER EYE resolution manually to 2448x2448 fixes it.

I'm not claiming I can fix everything, but things can get very specific to what you are using and doing. The one I just described isn't even our fault, but we still get the blame for it if we don't find the fix.

Yes, I fiddle around with settings like resolution setting audio to mono but it doesn't seem to help much. I'm using the DEOvr app on a Quest 2 streaming video via wifi. I have to say that sometimes the buffering can go into many minutes when it stops. I just exit out it at that point and say fuck it! Long buffering happen about 70% of the time. It's really ridiculous!

    a month later

I have had this problem for months with no fix on Quest. Can watch 1 video and then it freezes upon starting a different video. Everytime.

Does it with Deovr and the slr app connected to my laptop.

Have contacted before with no resolution so I unsubbed. Resubbed to give it a try again and same problem.

So after going to numerus discussion boards I discovered a fix for this problem. I simply went into my modem setting and changed the Wi-Fi bandwidth from the 2.4 GHz to 5.0 GHz. And Presto - Change-0, no more buffering!! Also I can download updates to the Quest, and boy were there a lot of them! And I can stream the highest resolution as well. So boys, put that solution into your support library and hopefully the next guy won't have to go 18 months of buffering like I did.
