          I can go into a long discussion about cameras, it's always thinking of trade-offs. What do you want to sacrifice, the resolution or FPS mostly in VR camera systems. But again, even if you sacrifice resolution at least you should compare within same pixel size, for example you can get 20mp camera in GoPro no problem, but sensor is so small that any difference in light will give you grain, I can see studios that still shoot on action cameras right away, generally they have a really hospital-like lit environment (aka CzechVR, SexBabesVR), that gives less room for scenarios and creativity. Also I'm not sure how to explain but smaller sensors give this weird banding effect, kinda like a pattern or a texture. On the other side smaller sensor means faster scanning, so that's why usually you get 1/2'3 sensors with 4K 60fps first, and then bigger sensors pull up slowly over time. Bigger physical areas are slower to scan, and you don't really wanna shoot on anything below 30fps for VR. Given that, we've decided that we want to go natural as possible, meaning that we are shooting in native 60fps. Our resolution 6K which is not little, but we also have a bigger sensor giving us a lot of maneuvering within scenes. And we don't have to interpolate in 60fps, interpolation is always pain in the ass, take a long time and doesn't always work good. Native 60fps is the shit. Also we have 10 bit, and color grader who grades every original https://tppr.me/3kw2n not the best screenshot, but it adds the value to videos, the guy used to color grade movies before the corona. 🙂

          No action camera shoot in 10bit.

          Worth mentioning that we are also not tricking people into 6K or 8K, I know some studios do (without pointing at anyone specific), but you now people have no idea what they are doing when they let you download 10bit footage which you can't even watch on any VR headset. In fact we are keeping true pixels as they came from the camera, and using fisheye (meaning not using the equirectangular projection) means that we are not wasting bitrate on top and bottom of the footage, but keep smaller format that looks even better.

          As for rigs in the works, we could build a system that is even more than 8K, it would be kinda expensive and bulky. Requires 2 PCs to write in the same time. Something to experiment with. I don't have time to do that now.

          TLDR: We can have 8K 30fps 8bit, but 6K 60fps 10bit is cooler. By the way we are working on adding ambisonics into originals. We just did shoot with kenzie using 6 channels recording and gonna pack it into SLR app soon.

                                                What I can say is that SLR Originals has some of the best quality my equip can show, so I am happy with the current cameras.

                                                And if the room for scenarios is narrowed by using a specific camera, I am not for that. I can enjoy specific types of videos all the time but in general I like a bit of variety.
