  • Lost VR option on smartphone

We are getting it back. Might take some time though

@doublevr

I did say this on another thread.

Galaxy S20

  • Snapdragon 865 = Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 1 (Quest 2).
  • Resolution 563 PPI vs 773 PPI (Quest 2)
  • Amoled screen for up to 1200 nits, 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio; LCD screen with poorer blacks (Quest 2)
  • MicroSD upgradable to 1 TB vs internal storage of 128 or 256 GB (Quest 2)

SLR could upgrade the current implementation of Deo to appeal to users like this.

  1. Deo for Android lacks support for 200 degree SLR Originals. Stuff can be streamed, but streaming isn't the best option for cell phone VR.

  2. Resolution adjustment. Deo VR distorts the image by adding a white line between the display areas. Deo is not compatible with the resolution of S20, so images are distorted for S10 (easy fix for a competent coder).

  3. Deo should add support for multiple language tracks. While this isn't important for SLR videos, it would be helpful for users and is relatively easy to code (with support for multiple subtitles in different languages).

[deleted] thing is, I can't find the apps at all. Hopefully I didn't overpost by asking in the Haptics thread. I mean I can't find Deo on Google Play. There are a few apk's on pirating sites, but I'm not sure that's a good move. I know I had it in 2020, but that phone is long gone

Mike451 deo is not on app stores for a while. The rumor has it it might be coming back within the next few month in its ultimate glory.

Am I the only one here that still uses a basic cheap headset with a phone who cares if SLR took away the option to watch this way??? I find that hard to believe l. I paid for my annual subscription based in this being available and they removed it! Why???

I'm with you. Disappointed they cut off my only way to watch with no notice. I've already cancelled, contacted support, and have gone elsewhere.

I'm not going to buy a dedicated device just for playing VR videos. That's absurd when other sites offer fine content and haven't intentionally removed a feature.

I checked back here to see if there was any update but I guess we're just SOL

emthrowaway Same boat! I am also currently unwilling to buy a VR device. I'm upset my membership is going to waste at the moment.

If they removed your way of using their service and you purchased it based on this feature you should definitely as for your money back. Other similar websites have the VR option.

We're getting close, but still no cigar. Tried on two different smartphones. The button has appeared, however, when activated, it just switches to 'global'/free-look view. Which is ok-ish, since the button for that is also there and doesn't seem to work, but still no VR. Probably just a matter of a few lines of code being changed

Your websites competitors do not have a problem with this feature. I have no issue taking my business elsewhere and I’m sure I’m not alone

Well, it's been more than 3 weeks now. I kinda get that August is holiday season and things move slowly, but I still don't get why changes are pushed through in the first place if that is the case. The plug-in has reverted to the changed one, still no VR. I will not pay another month for a feature I can't use, I have decided to cancel and move on to greener pastures.
