I have been using SLA's "VR webcam girls" section for long time and found it's quite slow to even load the main UI content (most times when click the button it took half a minute or longer to even load, often there is an error saying "lost connection with server” and jump back to SLA main interface. Even after the section is loaded, It is very slow when switch pages, again took at least half an minute to go from page 1 to page 2 to show less than 12 thumbnails, and it often shows lost connection error during the loading. Then when live streaming is finally playing, it takes long time to start playing (spinning circle in black screen), also the video often goes black screen again and again to buffer, killed all the fun. I always thought it was normal and my internet is not fast enough (although the SLA app speed test showed over 40Mbps speed and less than 70ms latency).
Then i found dreamcam.com, it's load in quest browser super fast and the content of webcams are exactly the same as SLA (even the chat content are identical in both apps, if you make a comment in SLA, you can see it in dreamcam, vice versa , so the backbone servers are exactly the same), yet the Dreamcam loads instantly, switch pages in seconds, and the streaming video almost start to play instantly, never went to black screen to buffer. All with exactly same quest 2 and network, i can even switch between SLA and dreamcam to see the difference.
Dear Devs, are you aware the situation (if not ,please try for your self and see) ? why SLA is so slow and unstable at playing webcams? is it SLA server problem or DeoVR is just inferior and less efficient than quest browser? Any way to improve the situation. I want to continue use SLA not only because I still have many tokens that cannot refund, also in SLA you can set favourites which you cannot in dreamcam, but the user experience is much worse in terms of loading times and stability and speed. Any plans or roadmap to improve the handicapped webcam section? i am sure it made good money for your business and make no sense to keep it as is.
