doublevr Thanks for responding. I think the CGI backgrounds mitigate some of the problems, for sure. They still have a bit of an "unreal" feel in a medium when we should be striving for "real" or as close to it as possible. I do appreciate the attempt to compromise, and it does at least give us access to passthrough stuff that is unwatchable without it. This seems to be the only iteration of this solution, however. If it was more widely available, it might mute some criticism.

LordCrash I guess we can leave things at this point without further going into fighting 👌

Hi @doublevr ,

I fully get why SLR is going for PT. Eventually all headsets will have incredible surrounding view, Apple will likely break barriers with this soon. You are essentially creating a market/building a library for something that is soon to explode.

I like this, its business savvy. However what concerns me is what @TakingFredoFishing points out. The angles changing, and the models not lining up properly makes it not work even with future PT capabilities

So, on one hand current users with Q2 (like me) cannot enjoy these videos.
On the other hand users with Quest Pro (or better future headsets) cannot enjoy them either.

If going 100% for PT with future in mind:
-bodysuit is necessary
-angles need to be alligned properly
-angles cannot be changed back and forth, only once per scene, I'd go in order sitting > laying > standing

I am a big supporter of PT, keep it going! This is the future! whoever has been complaining has deffo never had the experience or they wouldnt complain LMAO!

+1, I am also supportive of SLR's investment in PT tech. Throwing my two cents in given all the negative comments I see.

I get it - it's a bit clunky right now and still needs work. But let's step back and think of the bigger picture here. The upcoming generation of headsets will have the full-color passthrough, blurring the line between what is VR and what is real. And that is not far away. One year from now, the quest 3 will likely have replaced most of the quest 2's out there.

In parallel, haptics tech has advanced drastically in the last few years with the introduction of the OSR2, SR6, and multi-access scripts. These devices can mimic grinding motion across 6 axes, and there is even a squeezing capability in the works. On top of that new sleeves such as the Zxy, Venus Real, and the Nagai brought a level of realism that has ever been seen before with toys. If you need convincing, try out one of the SLR multi-access scripts on an OSR2/SR6 equipped with a Venus Real!

Now imagine what happens when you put this all together. Imagine a life-like model in front of you, in your bed or on your couch. You feel every movement that you see. We are so close to having the tech to make this possible. I want to see it happen 🙂.

What convinced me to buy a lifetime sub to SLR, is the vision. I saw these folks push the boundaries - investing in PT, investing in multi-axis, even trying to build the first commercial multi-axis haptics device. What other company in the adult space is doing this?
I don't know about you, but I'm not going to be content with just keeping the status quo and pushing out content. I want to see the most realistic experiences brought to life.

Unlike most companies in this space, with SLR, we have a direct feedback channel to their CEO. Please don't use it to try to talk him out of pushing the boundaries and being like all the other content providers.
Instead, let's work together to make this thing happen. Look how far AI-generated scripts have come, and how the SLR team acted on the feedback received. The same will happen with PT.

Yes, it is a little clunky at the moment. But keep in mind the big picture, and where we can get given a bit of time from now.

I don't hate passthrough but I also don't think I'd be upset if it wasn't on the site. I think we're still several generations away from the tech being in a place where our brains are going to be "tricked" by it.

I also think using the performance of passthrough videos as a metric for the success of the concept can be a little misleading. The only solo scene with Laya Rae is passthrough. When I hit like for that video, it's for her, because if this forum has taught me anything, it's that if a talent doesn't reach whatever performances thresholds you're looking for, the chances of ever seeing them again are basically zero.

netcat I think you are misinterpreting the PT criticism. Nobody is trying to get doublevr to completely drop PT.

netcat Yeah just to clarify, I'm not totally against it I just think it should probably be used sparingly until we get to the point in the near future you're talking about. Keep in mind, even VR is still considered somewhat "niche" at this point and AR even moreso. That being said, I'm fine with SLR and other companies making stuff thats not for me as it helps the business/industry overall so I'm not coming in guns a-blazing, but perhaps a different kind of subscription model for AR in the future makes the most sense....

I'm really only perturbed by it when someone like Lily Lou. or any bigger name star we haven't seen for a while/at all in VR gets a PT scene. Something just seems wasted in booking a popular talent like that with the inferior tech available in the current moment.

Most of you folk complaining about pass through can't decide what you like. Whenever a non pass through scene is released, you start going on about picture quality, camera angles, story lines etc. Just a bunch of drama queens in reality.

theHobbit You may be happy paying for potato quality videos with lousy camera angles and no story but that doesn't mean everyone else should be too. Everyone here has different expectations. Labelling those who aren't perfectly happy with the status quo drama queens is pretty ignorant.

Hairsational actually it's not. It's the constant regurgitation of the same old complaints that have been answered time and time again. It amazes me how patient @doublevr is with you guys. You have access to the CEO of the platform you use, he engages with your critiques and complaints and a lot of what you say could be read as 'we can do the job better than you Alex'.

I don't think I know of any other organisation where the CEO is as active and yet still the complaints.

It's porn, it's not that serious. Something you can use to jerk off. If the face, tits and ass aren't doing it for you find another video that does. It's as simple as that.

If you want story lines - get Netflix or go to the movies, there is some good stuff on there and in the theatre you can feel fully immersed or whatever lol.

Hairsational yes I am easily pleased with hot women in front of me. I think most porn consumers are, but there are a few of you let's say 10 who are drama queens lol.

Pressure to improve things - send Alex Mack to creative writing classes, ban pass through, open a new AR site, give me my lifetime membership money back and on and on and on. Give me a break.

Hairsational Would be interesting to see the PT watchtime vs non-PT watchtime

Also clearly not an analyst I see, given that there are 10' of 1000's of non PT videos vs only a handful of PT videos. The data would be clearly skewed towards non-PT lol. Also you would need to take account of other variables that were a factor like release date, performer, available on main page etc.

The quality of PT has only very recently been improved, maybe from the Molly Little scene. Would be better to take a random sample of say 5 films from the last 2/3 months and compare the watch time.

Personally I don't mind and a scene in a grey room is fine for me but I have to admit I switched on pass through the other night for Rissa on my Quest 2 and loved having her in bed with me. I can't wait to get Quest 3

              theHobbit
+1, agreed with your comments above.
I also can't wait for the Q3, just playing around with PT on the Q2 it's easy to imagine the level of immersion full color will bring.

The feedback on this thread does feel overly negative, and I doubt it's representative of the site's user base. I actually thought the story lines in Europe tour were pretty good.

SLR is on track now to deliver some amazing things. As I said before, we are so close to bridging the gap and making these experiences more lifelike.
A lot of the criticism I see above, I do feel misses this bigger picture. Why make a separate site for PT? When most of the user base will be on quest 3's in a year's time? And if you don't like PT at the moment, it's fine, there are so many non-PT videos to enjoy. There are many genres of videos I personally don't enjoy - so I just skip them.

A lot of these complaints I feel distract from the real challenges and problems to be solved here, to bring us the lifelike experiences we want. SLR is uniquely positioned to solve these given their full stack ownership across content and platform.
Pointing back to my favorite example, multi-axis scripting. Right now, it' prohibitively expensive because each axis needs to be scripted separately. I played around with the tool a bit, and it's time consuming. But it doesn't have to be. It's time consuming because you're building movement patterns directly from primitives, much akin to the old days when we were writing assembly directly. You have a lot of direct control, but most of those permutation are useless because they don't occur in real life. Fortunately, it's a solvable problem, a layer of abstraction enabling you to use parametrized prefab movement patterns could potentially enable scripting of multiple axises at once.
But this is not something that will take several generations of headsets, an engineering team can build a solution for this in the order of 6mo to a year.

Another challenge we'll encounter... As we all know, what looks good on camera, may not necessarily feel good. But SLR has their own content pipeline, so they can control this. PT videos can be shot at angles optimized to viewed in bed. or on a couch. or standing up. With movements that are optimized to fully leverage the capabilities of the haptics tech.

What is really exciting though is that most of these challenges are not limited by silicon. It's a mix of software, price-point, tech/content integration, and organizational. That's why I disagree with the comments pushing to limit PT. I see the potential of this tech as a massive step forward in this space.

Another question about AR porn is how are props going to be done? Many of the best, most immersive JAV scenes feature props (e.g. a table full of food and a girl chopsticking it to your mouth). Would AR porn be able to incorporate that easily?

LordCrash I think my extremely useful contribution still holds- none of the drama queens are happy with VR either. I've read the posts man by the same users and you all go to pieces when the dick is 1 cm off centre during the shoot lol. Like you have your protractors out or something measuring this kind of stuff.

Note: Did you pick up on the fact that I can articulate myself without having to resort to verbal abuse?
