Missing most of the worthwhile specs we should know but overall good to see apple, of all companies, diving head first in VR/MR. Overpriced headset most likely stuck inside their ecosystem garden, but this will be the next big push VR desperately needs even though this headset will not be for most. I'm still personally more excited about the somnium v1 more than anything but a good day for all of us nonetheless

the positive? quest 3 is coming out later this year
been waiting patiently with Q1....won't even look thru the Q2 that is a foot away from me, but nice to have it just in case the q1 dies on me. my kid used the q2 twice so far in 8months time
spanker I agree, it's def not for me either, I might get the Q3 but only if the passthrough is good, if not, I'll continue to save towards a 1k-1.5k headset later down the road from a small company
the price 
will be interesting to see how popular this thing gets... the price is a huge barrier but there are a lot of apple fanboys that would pay any amount of money for an apple product.

Yeah that price point is absurd. I don’t know who they think they’re marketing to. Yes you’ll have some apple fanboys buy it, but this is like 1k more than a MacBook for Christ sakes. No thanks. With the current tech that is out there, I don’t see any reason why it would be 3k$ better than Q3. It could be better, but not THAT much better

spanker sounds good, to me it's just backwards, the quest you turn on and activate the pass through if you want, Apple turns on with their pass through automatically on, I bet you can turn it off an add a home menu back ground.
But he said the pass through super crisp and it'll play 180 vr videos so I'm kinda sold on that alone

well it apparently doesnt have controllers and depends on hand tracking and thats not going to work well (or at all) if there is little to no light.
spacepirate I guess dimmed lights or even darkness could still work if the tracking system brings its own infrared light source like Face ID

SchnuppiLilac its possible that they may have some outward facing ir leds for illumination of the hands but im not sure given that they are already powering a lot of cameras and sensors in that thing in addition the main stuff (processor, displays, etc). their power budget would be very limited because this is meant to run off a small battery.
spacepirate I think the wording of the statement 'The external battery supports up to 2 hours of use, and all‑day use when plugged in' implies short battery life and that you will need to have more than one battery if you want to stay off leash for a longer time. Why else would they state the obvious, i.e. that a device will work all day when plugged in

For anyone interested in a more detailed breakdown and hands-on experience of the headset:
Supposedly the superb eye-tracking is the biggest gamechanger. I'm really excited, maybe the 2nd or 3rd generation will be for the masses at a cheaper pricepoint. But until then, there will be an entire ecosystem of apps and features ready!

They talk about it like it something brand spanking new to the world, I was watching big screen movies in theaters, ring side seats to ufc wwe and football in 180 and 360 vr, looking at big photos talking on the phone reading text all on my gearvr, I don't recall they made a big deal about vr then,

I was also wondering if the vision will record vr 180 videos, I was looking at the vr cameras, and just thought...man, by now these high priced cell phone should already be able to record vr 180, it's bound to happen, watch.
Its a no brainer, apple could make a phone like that, and advertise it like oh look now you can record 180 video with your phone and zap it into your vision for playback.

Not gonna lie, when they updated my s10 phone and my gearvr said no longer supported I felt like I got dumped out of no where, a punch to the stomach. Felt depressed for a day or two. Had it for 5 years, if you think about it there really was no money in it tho, cuz if you bought one gearvr headset that's all you needed, you just upgrade your phone from a s7 to s10 like I did.
But man, I bet they could of made a smaller gearvr and added pass-through. They still can but will they.

It's too pricey for me for sure, but it will likely boost the VR porn market. Here are my takes:
1) More people using VR headsets means more studios willing to enter the market
Apple has a good track record of turning niche technologies mainstream. Think iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches and even Airpods. Before they brought those products out, smart phones, tablets, smart watches and wireless earphones were not that popular. Nowadays, every second person has one.
More people will have VR headsets, which in turn means more demand for VR porn, which in turn means creates incentive for studios to invest in VR.
2) Passthrough is about to get ridiculously good
From what I've seen, passthrough on the Apple Vision Pro is incredible. Imagine your favourite pornstar seemingly seducing you inside your bedroom, with passthrough video quality that is virtually indistinguishable from real life.
SLR is in a great position to capitalise on this as the leader in VR porn passthrough tech.
3) The Apple Vision Pro's built in 3D camera makes it easy for amateurs to film content
Just like how smartphones allow amateurs to film 2D porn, the widespread adoption of the Apple Vision Pro will allow amateurs to easily record their own content.
I havent owned an apple product for most of the past decade or so, but Apple is really selling this device to me, a non apple user - even at that price point
