Vrsumo2017 yes lens rings are gone but very Lil glare is still there. You won't notice it unless something really comes up the screen.

SchnuppiLilac It doesn't have hardware accelerated 10k or 12k decoding for any codec, especially not AVC, so like the Quest 2 those videos won't play smoothly.

SchnuppiLilac I don't think that will work. I think quest 3 can do 8k 60 max but if they can shoot in 12k or above and scale it to 8k then I guess it will look better then those normal 8k, Just my assumption.

hottea Thanks for that. Pasthrough does sound like it's really good but if the esolution is not much different from the 2 for watching video I think I'll stick with the Quest 2 for a bit longer as I've only been using it for 10 months and I recently bought a case and an Elite battery strap for it.

Yorky the weight distribution is better. I found the quest 2 a bit taxing weight wise and with an elite strap especially when I wanted to chill watching Netflix or browse YouTube. The Q3 feels much better and Im pretty sure I won't be needing the elite strap as it feels nice overall.

If you are just watching VR porn on it though and not that bothered about PT then, you've made the right decision.

Big thing I have noticed is the increased FOV. You can just see a lot more of your surroundings and look around a lot easier.

Just need to get accessories now as it’s still uncomfortable to wear for any length of time with the standard strap and facial interface.

Really want my BoboVR halo strap back with the battery. They’re releasing a retrofit kit to convert it for use with Quest 3 but not available yet.

The facial interface may be a bit trickier for third parties to do as the standard one now has a built in slider to move you closer or further away from the lenses for people wearing glasses. Previously the thing for glasses was just a separate little plastic insert so third parties didn’t need to concern themselves with it.

Finally I want my new prescription lens adapters so I can ditch my glasses.

One thing I was slightly concerned about was whether it would carry apps over but it has done. Heresphere, Deo, Skybox and Playa all automatically uploaded on the new headset.

Man I’m a little bummed. Just tried it out, and I guess I was expecting a much more noticeable upgrade. It’s better but not really by all that much. Def way smaller. Less bulky and more comfortable to wear, but still feels cheaply made. I guess that’s how they keep the price point down.

Pass through color is a game changer but it’s still super grainy, you have to basically be outside for it to look clear. And I thought the scaling would be better with the depth sensors but it during PT chicks are either too small or too big and the camera angle is hard to line up exactly with where you’re sitting/laying.

I don’t notice much difference with pancake lens either. You don’t have to constantly search for a sweet spot anymore which is nice, and you can Definitley crank the sharpness and other settings and it’ll run smoother than when you tried that with Q2.

Played around with he Quest 3 today and all in all it's a really nice headset. My biggest worry was the FOV but it was actually pretty okay, quite similar to Index if you really push it up your face, which is a lot better than I expected. Passthrough was pretty neat too, not perfect but very usable and most importantly a very cool experience (also for non porn). I've only tested it in daylight so far though so curious to try it out at night.

To me the biggest surprise was playing some Half life Alyx with 200% super sampling and godlike on virtual desktop. This looked so much clearer than my 8kx, I thought I was playing an updated version of the game. Really cool. Unfortunately videos don't get the same experience boost and look quite similar as image quality of current gen videos is the limiting factor 99% of the time.

The handtracking was also fun and interesting, never had a headset that does that before. Would be nice to ditch the controller at some point.

Then there is all this talk about the elite strap being all that. I'm just very glad Meta decided to go for one you can comfortably lie on your back with. Awesome! More than comfortable enough I would say, all though I will probably replace the face gasket with a more comfortable one that's also sits closer to the lenses. (it leaves your face red unlike the index or 8kx for instance).

My only gripe so far is that the battery drains like crazy. Especially with virtual desktop all maxed out. Didn't expect that to be such an issue.

fenderwq ye battery sucks, it's going down much faster then my 2 year old quest 2, I wonder how bad will it become in one or two year.

Just got it today. Looks like a very very nice device. Although now at this resolution videos are the limiting factor in terms of visual quality. The visual quality of videos doesnt look much better than my 8kx but games do look much better.

But passthrough is incredible. Looks really awesome. I didnt like MR before this device coz it was so ugly. now its good!!!
Mixed Reality can really be the future i think!! the immersion is so much better than normal videos tbh.

albertleder that is what I was saying all videos looks same but when you look at games and dash surroundings, it's much more clear and crisp.

loulou206 The q3 is much better than the q2, u can see this in games. but 8k videos are simply not high enough reesolution to fully utilize it. q3 is 25 PPD but an 8k video is only 21 PPD. and q2 is 20.

I dont know about the grid effect tbh. I havent seen it or know what u mean.
