I'm not sure what some people here are talking about. Is it the best 8k? No I've seen much sharper (but also worse). Is it a big upgrade from 4k? Most definitely yes.

I have watched several 8K videos, and the quality varies from one to another. In some it is more noticeable, in others less. But of course, there is a lot of difference between the same video at 4K and 8K, playing one video after another on the glasses, and using supersampling, a good graphic card on PC, and a good player. What does need improvement is the bitrate.

In Quest 2 no idea how it will look because I don't have them, VR with cell phone hardware has many limitations.

    Natch yeah I agree, I used a good pc graphics card with some supersampling but most importantly some sharpening from heresphere. Makes a big difference for these vids.

        Four more releases announced! The June 30 release is a 5P (BGGGG) from KMP, featuring AIKA, Akari Niimura (新村あかり), Sarina Momonaga (百永さりな), and Himari Kinoshita (木下ひまり). No previews available for that one currently though.

        of the several 8K JAV vids I have, only one is actually in 8192x4096, and it's half the usual bitrate. Quality-wise it looks exactly like a recent VRHush video in 8K. Can see pores on her face in cowgirl.

        I'm guessing Quest Pro doesn't quite have the resolution to make the most of it though, and it seems to struggle just a bit on these high res vids.

        About the scale, most of the JAV studios figured that out years ago, SIVR, KAVR, WAVR, MDVR, DSVR, VRKM are usually perfect imo

            [unknown] That is a stolen content site. I'd suggest removing the link right away. The giveaway is brand new content from DMM studios. Aside from a brief stint with Erito almost a decado ago that has since ended, DMM does not license their content to anyone whereas this site is showing their new releases.

              ZENRA Are you serious? Out of caution I have deleted my comment where I mention it but how do you know it has stolen content? Has this been confirmed officially somewhere, the price is a little steep but so is any real quality JAV content in general, they usually have scenes and content I cant find anywhere r18 going away has really limited the access further. Either way, out of caution I did remove my comment if in fact that is not a legitimate site, I've used it several times and never experienced any issue with either the access or media from it.

                  bacula8630 PREMIUM is definitely using a Canon rig. I watched Yuki Takeuchi's and could tell immediately just from the scale. It looks like a VRHush video.

                  damian HEVC "halving the bitrate" is true under ideal circumstances...and when everything else is "like for like". So 4K 15 Mbps HEVC / H265 can look as good as 4K_ 30 Mbps AVC / H264, if the stars align. You can see that for yourself from studios where SLR offers downloads and the "original" file is 4K. To expect half the bitrate at 4x the resolution? Insanity, wishful thinking, or utter incompetence. No other explanation.

                  ableman It's neither. TL;DR The bitrate they are using is comically low.
                  I expect some savings from switching to HEVC/H.265 (not that you'd want to use AVC/H.264 for 8K, nor should you ever use it for anything >4K) but they are using 15-20 Mbps for these 8K files. It's insulting, considering what they charge per title, and all of the 8K JAV VR I've checked out has less spatial detail than the 4K version of the same title.
                  Not TL;DR - x265 is "panic blurring" as it tries to meet the comically low bitrate they're asking of it. You end up with a pin sharp background (the camera doesn't move, so other than sensor noise becoming visible in dim scenes, the background is "static") and a blurry mess for anything that's in motion (the actress).

                  ZENRA You've got connections there, right? Tell them to get it together. Their distribution "system" has single-handedly held back VR JAV for the better part of the last 2-3 years.

                              NewSubscruber I've seen 8k JAV encoded with 35mbs too. Still too low but unfortunately common place outside of JAV too. But yeah, I've since seen much lower bitrates too.

                                metichemsi Just because a site may have a smooth experience and deliver the goods does not make it legal. The content may be there, but I'd be surprised beyond belief if (any of) it's actually licensed.

                                  NewSubscruber If you're referring to DMM getting their studios (S1, Moodyz, IdeaPocket, etc.) on SLR or any western-oriented platform with R18 out of the picture (RIP), it would be easier to solve any one of the many Middle East crises. It's near impossible to talk sense into a conservative Japanese company that makes so much a day that their entire adult output is basically a rounding error in their accounting books.

                                      I really enjoy the JAV content, but there's this one little weakness I've got: I'm not entirely sure how to browse their scenes outside of SLR it's just different. So, any scenes recommendations especially for those newer 8k ones, I'd be super grateful!

                                      ZENRA lol no, moreso, have them improve the encode quality for 8K on FANZA itself! I know getting their "monopoly" studios outside of FANZA would be a pipedream. RIP R18 indeed.

                                        SLR has just received it's first 8K JAV content. I don't have an ETA yet as when it will go up, but probably sooner than later depending on how long it takes for it to be processed into the database.

                                          ZENRA nice, any idea if this content will be something new or something that has already been distributed through an existing JAV site?
