Just starting this thread to keep it up on volumetrics
- DeoVR team research
- something that looks promising

Mastering this in the future, might allow POV and Voyeur scenes at the time.

doublevr did you already look into the Neuralangelo technology of NVidia. That looks very promising....

doublevr Can imagine. Best way is to find a partner / collaborate form a small group and start experimenting. 6DOF is the next BIG thing in VR next to passthrough.

Volumetric Video Editor 2.0 (alpha) is out now
    https://lifecastvr.com/volumetric_video_editor.html
Update 2 adds a new “WebXR” menu which lets you create a volumetric video embedded in a web page with one click, and also run a local web server to test it with one click (within browser security limits).
Lifecast’s software has always been able to create VR-enabled volumetric videos inside of a web page, but setting it up used to require using the command line. Now it can all be done with a few clicks!

Have you considered packaging 3D photos with SLR Originals, using this method?

I still suggest that you purchase the DeoVR platform outright, if you have the capital. I have been watching DeoVR content directly through the app recently. While it's primitive at the moment, the whole experience would improve fast with AVI instead of H265 encoding. AV1 is royalty-free and can save up to 30% for file size compared to HEVC for the same image quality.

Very cool, looking forward to seeing what comes out of this.

I love Light fields I definitely think they're the future of media everything from porn to concerts to short films would be improved if it felt like your head motions were tracked.... how a girl maintains her sexiness while eye fucking a lightfield array though is beyond me lol

doublevr have you reached out to Infinite Realities to collaborate on next gen stuff?

doublevr ughhh what the hell, that is scary good. I feel like I barely started hearing about this crap and it already looks way better than what Naughty America tried years ago.

cant wait to see this stuff for passthrough porn...
and its gonna be great with dynamic depth occlusion...

    almost there...

    Hi guys !
I was wondering where you are on the volumetric topic,
I was curious about how much a real dedicated studio on full volumetric setup can cost ? And if you plan about that on pure software side developement.

    • One other question, i'am working on post compositing 3D images on film making, ( i'am not a dev at all)
And we often use a simple trick call camera mapping. Is just about reproject some images or image sequence on a rought 3D model which also allows to post fake camera moovment (limited) and fake paralax.
I'am not aware if some soft existe allows to create some rought animated mesh from a flat video, but if exist, it will be pretty eazy to fake real 6dof (limited of course) on all already shooted stuff 🙂

Thanks for you job and sorry about my bad english, peace !

There was this company like 7 years ago that made some excellent 3d models using photogrammetry. Unfortunately they didn't make it. And now their websites have fallen off the internet too:

    vrgirls.com and veiviev.com

They had a pretty awesome setup with many camera's but from what I remember those were all rented, or sold after making the first dozen or so scans. And sales never picked up, I guess they were too early. I bought I think half of their offering. And this is where I first saw the lovely Chloe Toy, still starting up that viewer from time to time.

Interestingly, and why I mention it now, is one of the lasts things they were working on was 4D and I have I some demo's still laying around. They also used a multi cam setup to, at real time mind you, derive 3d volumetric views. 7 years ago.

Track this guy down and offer him a job 😆 I only know he's a Brit.

A screenshot of one of the videos I had saved from their blog or something:

    edit: found them: https://www.ir-ltd.net/team/

YKBnqkvq at real time mind you, derive 3d volumetric views

Ok never mind, not real time. I just looked into the implementation and each frame is a separate mesh. These are loaded into GPU memory in a streaming fashion and in one of the demo's 900 frames use about 1.6GB disk space and is using a simple run length encoding compression.

So I misremembered, but I am pretty sure reading on their blog the input was multi cam.

Aaanyway, thought I'd share this memory because at the time I thought this vrgirls thing was the shit. Sad to see it never got off the ground.
