  • Private Messaging (p2p) Enabled

Hey All! We've enabled the ability in the forum to send private messages to other users (p2p).

By clicking on a user's username -> clicking the 3 dots -> clicking on "Send [username] a message", your messages will show up as a private thread in the forum which will be visible only to yourselves. The user you message will also by default receive a notification in the forum as well as by email that they have received a PM from you.

i was going to open a thread about messaging like this.

great way to create more stickiness to the site. have been part of another hobby type site...long after hobby over, still there spending the 100bucks a year for messages...for message privilege...even though only talk to two or three people

    also ideas?

sometimes public board is not the place...so hopefully, more and better ideas come to the surface

this can't be a twitter thing where gov. comes in and sees it all 🙂

Wow, my post got deleted. It seems like the admin team takes everything for granted. But, I'm glad to know that someone is keeping an eye on things here. I was just trying to prove my point that private messages are useless in sites like this. I personally would never want to message anyone here in private, especially when I know other people can see them. If I want to address anyone, I'd just do it in public.

I still believe that you'll remove this feature for the same reason you deleted my post. Two people exchanging emails or Facebook accounts could allow that kinda things to happen. You might say that they could already do that on Discord, but I say allowing it here is more encouraging.

the reality is it's just one step away from real conversation if really need it...i guess you can guess what that additional step might be? or not 🙂

potential contact is good in general

shooting ideas to the overlords might be good and make things better overall

would love to be able to contact some producers....some are so very very close, but still missing the boat

I've passed along some of the questions brought up by y'all, will share if/when I have some answers 👍

Edit: after typing that it looks like some of these are adjustable in your personal forum settings: the ability to turn off automatic emails and the ability to block all incoming private messages for example (petergriff)
