Oh, they ask for it, just not in the sense of the way SLR is trying to execute.
There's a never ending caterwauling for some random fetish or some body type. Plus all the complaints that their specific tastes aren't being represented. So ignoring that this is a VIRTUAL REALITY site, SLR seems to be trying to assuage the loud voices with the variety inherent in flat. Of course, it won't assuage them at all because...well, they can find that flat somewhere else.
Flat also opens the door to a bigger population of content providers. VR production does have a pretty significant barrier to entry in both equipment and know-how. Compared with the million of so OF and PH content makers who can put together a scene on a whim with an iPhone and Tinder. I'm sure they will more than happy to throw their iPhone-filmed vertical vids onto another platform that will pay them to fuck. That variety means that SLR subscribers will get more than the same fucking actresses and stunt cocks over and over again. And that could very well alleviate some of the complainers.
There is another advantage, and I think its a smart move: bringing the SLR AI for scripts to the broader world of porn. While there is a significant overlap of porn-tech-lovers who are into both VR and scripts, SLR has not been serving that quadrant of the Venn diagram that does scripts but not VR. Its still niche, but the market is out there and growing (see traffic growth at erosscripts). I mean if SLR can cut a deal to get access to like the Wicked or LegalHardcore catalog and put AI scripts to them, they will get subs from it.
