Why do downloaded SexLikeReal videos never work in SLR App or Heresphere?

They always pause at like 25 seconds that then stop working entirely while the script keeps running.

Almost like they're corrupted? Is it just me?

If you have a computer you can check the video is not corrupt and plays properly independent of your headset, router, etc. using vlc (a free media player). https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Then if you describe your problem with a lot more detail someone can help you.

Sounds more like you can’t get the bitrate needed to play the resolution you downloaded.

scrptr9 Both on my Quest Pro and on my 2019 16-inch Macbook this video stops at 0:25. I have to really make sure the video doesn't reach 25 sec before the whole file becomes unusable. Which exact video gives you problems.

My macbook has no issue playing any video I have downloaded from SLR - vlc is not useful to watch, as no vr, just to check the video is not corrupted. If vlc is not working I would suspect the video is corrupted.

I stream all my downloaded videos - SLR or any others, always download the highest quality - not the huge "original", without issue using wifi, a usb external drive for storage connected to a windows computer, and running xbvr on my windows computer, and with a wireless quest2 connection.

hashes123 One more thing, you can go to a browser in your headset and go to an "internet speed test" site to see what throughput your headset is able to achieve in your environment.

hashes123 quest pro can decode up to 8k, your Mac is likely 4k if it's not the m1 or better chip

I put the videos locally on my Quest Pro so it doesn't use internet speeds when I'm trying to watch.

Here's a Google Drive .mov screen recording. There it happens on VLC player on my Mac too. Exactly at 25 seconds. Surely it's corrupted then, right? The thing is I've had this issue with at least 7 different SLR videos I've tried. I thought it was a Quest problem until I noticed it's happening on my Mac too. Is it because I'm using Neat Download Manager to download?

I'm seeing someone a year ago in a comment wrote he had a similar problem. I quote:

"No offense, but something is definitely broken (probably your file streaming). The file seems to work now since my original post. I write software for a living, so I'm not some casual computer user. I download huge files all the time from other sources and I never have any issues. You have lots of files on this site that don't download properly and/or play properly. See the comment below from notoriousLRG who can confirm this same issue. There are also LOTS of comments on other videos about certain formats not downloading and/or playing properly. Rather than blaming the customer by appealing to your 1000s of customers who may or may not be complaining -- or even downloading the same formats, try investigating the actual problem. I would encourage you to actually download the file from your site as a customer would before testing it (in case you are trying to test the copy you have on your servers directly). Also I would encourage you to download the file from outside your network (remotely again like a customer would). I would also run simultaneous downloads to see if this is a factor.

The list of issues I have continually encountered on this site:
1) File downloads just canceling with no error explanation, but work on retry (constant issue)
2) Files that seem to download but are corrupt and won't play at all
3) Files that seem to download but you don't get the whole file (may be the same as the second issue, but may depend how much of the file you actually get). Even when downloading the file multiple times, it will cut off at the exact same point.

I can replicate these issues both on my desktop and my quest 2 device. It's hard to argue it's on my end when the quest 2 hardware is the same for everyone. I honestly think if your file streaming that doesn't work properly. Really hoping to get this resolved because I, like many others, do not have fast enough internet to stream reliably. I tried to upgrade but there is no fiber available in my location. Being able to download working files is crucial.

It's just your download manager, not sure why anyone feels the need to use those.

I used firefox, download took about a minute, video plays fine. This is not even a high bitrate video.

scrptr9 I switched from Firefox to the same download manager and found it to be a significant improvement with regard to reliability and getting always the max available download speeds. And you will be able to see if a download was incomplete which is not always the case with the Firefox download manager.

@hashes123 You are providing very little detail on the environment you are operating in, so it is a bit difficult to help you. In any case, you should be able to download even the largest versions of SLR videos and play them on Q Pro, as the same works well with a Q2.

As you are using Neat on a Macbook, how much free space do you have on your Macbook's harddrive or system partition if you have one? Even if you set your download directory on an external drive, Neat will require a minimum of free space to store the temporary data before merging the parts. If you don't have enough, the download might fail. The reason why this only happens with SLRO videos could be that no other site has that kind of file sizes (max file sizes at NA are below 40 GB while the SLRO original files are usually in the area of 40-120 GB).

scrptr9 The need to use a download manager is from the fact that Naughty America and SLR get failed downloads half the time so I need the ability to "resume" them after the download link expires.

I'm downloading them onto a T7. The downloads are not failing in Neat
