Just wondering is it the quality of the headset needed for realistic viewing of vr porn or is it a limitation of the vr porn providers camera?
I have the quest pro and using 7k and 8k videos but I want it to look more realistic in resolution, colour, sharpness etc. It looks good but can it look wow

2Gfjb Its down to post production to prepare good colors. For realistic sharpness you would need more resolution, thou 8k is kind a already close to the limit (you will need much higher resolution screen to actually see pixels).

There is always a subjective factor with such things, so its best to link some examples and comment on them.

Zoom out al the way in the app to see what your headset is capable of. In my experience very few scenes come close to truly maxing out my 8kx. Some of the good vr allure scenes are probably the closest to it.

Lenovo Yeah, it's at 1.5 by default but pushing it any further doesn't seem to do anything on my pimax 8kx for even the 8192x4096 scenes. I think the biggest boost to image quality for a lot of scenes is a bit of sharpening. Especially like the sharpening of Heresphere but use it in DeoVr as well.

While using the Meta Quest Pro wirelessly is the most convenient. I find I get the best image quality if I’m tethered to my PC using an Oculus Link cable.

In the Oculus app on your desktop, you find the super sampling settings. I believe it goes up to 1.7x (assuming your graphics card can handle it) But I found at max it has the the most detail, but loses some 3-D pop. And looks a little flat. I have my set at 1.5x which seems to be the best compromise.

bacula8630 Ah I'm only stand alone unfortunately as don't have a pc. Always wondered though if a good gaming rig with say a 3080 would improve the visuals

I can definitely see a difference. I don’t think that difference justifies the cost of buying a PC though. 😀

The other day there was a post on color space for Q2: https://forum.sexlikereal.com/d/3727-most-accurate-image-on-quest-2. Not sure if it will turn good into wow but changing these settings definitely has an impact on color (of course this will not add more details to the existing image).

And this may be only me but I have the impression that the part of the human brain processing visual information pretty quickly gets used to any improvements of image quality and will not perceive them as exceptional for very long. The 5K iMac display looked wow for, IDK, the first one or two days?

Super sampling on a high res headset usually does very little imo and only for the highest res scenes.
I did find that streaming to my Pico 4 could make the image quality a lot better with super sampling though (if my network was up to it). So, I guess it depends

Since you guys mentioned it, I just found out that VRBangers are going to release a 12k scene soon. I'm curious, do you think it will work on the Quest 2? And even if it does, will we really notice any difference? Personally, I already have a hard time distinguishing between 6k, 7k, and 8k scenes - to me, they all look the same.

[deleted] the 12k in pimax 12k refers to the displays.. there are 2 displays each with 6k resolution... but the video decoding capabilies are separate to the display capabilities and no device can decode 12k video..
