  • Content recommendations: Yay or Nay?

Is it an algorithm, or someone hand-picking similar content?

No harm in it but I never use those things on other sites anyway. The whole, if you watched x, you’ll like y, very rarely works out for me.

Not saying you shouldn’t do it though, it may be very useful for some people, just not a feature that I’d personally use very often.

doublevr Oh, YES. I mainly do interactive vids nowadays, so a "recommended" section that helps me discover/rediscover some hidden scripted gems would be sweet

I only want shorts if I can create them myself and have them play seamlessly one after the other.

Povr allows this with their playlist function, and it's amazing.
But it only works in webxr, (which is a bit rubbish).

Still, being able to compile your own collection of short clips gives an incredibly tailor-nade viewing experience.

If you guys could make this a possibility within DEOVR it would be a serious game-changer.

This is a cool feature. I like the way the shorts are done on YouTube. And if the algorithms work like Spotify, that would be wonderful. I don't know how, but Spotify is perfect picking up suggestions for me.

argyle43 we have data team running all sorts of algorithms to ensure the best match. I don't think they are testing things enough. I have to often report suggestions don't fit videos I'm watching. Like no other passthrough videos if I'm watching passthrough.

petermc it saves my life on Youtube. I get such a great insightful suggestions I would have a hard time getting one on my own.

Life's too short to go through all the stuff. Give me what's best based on my watching patterns

we probably want to focus on parts of the videos users are watching other than whole videos.
            any thoughts on that
I've been pushing for too long to switch our back-end logic to video segments instead of full lengths. No one is w

doublevr actually yes YouTube is one site where it does sometimes come in handy, you’re right. Although it’s sometimes crazy where you’ll watch hundreds of videos on music, movie and tv and then watch one medical video and all of a sudden your recommendations are flooded with medical videos!

In my other post I was thinking more like Netflix and other streamers where it suggests other shows or movies you may like based on what you’ve watched. It’s very rarely helped me discover anything new.

If it works really well I'm all for it.

doublevr It would be amazing if DeoVR recognised which positions I watch and which ones I skip and then automatically fast forwards to the parts I enjoy.
