stustustustu Also the controls for moving the image. It's really simple in HS to grab the image and drag it to the correct position, in Deo it seems to want to rotate the image and can be frustrating to move.

Deo and hs controls work the exact same way but mapped differently on the controllers but hs zooming and dome rotation moves a Lil slower, and its available with their 6dof on.

From my experience with hs, that's what I noticed.

Is there FAQ or something documenting all the HS settings?
Trying to make sense of it.

HereSphere extracts manually set hardware lens distance on Quest 3 and puts it into player if you set it to Autodetect. No idea what’s the logic if they do it manually. Probably was intended for headsets that don’t have manual lens offset so you can do it programtically

What resolution does? Can’t see much change changing from default 1.3 to 2.

Changing Level Guide from 0 to 99 - nothing happens

Checked Autofocus distance - irrelevant for most of the objects - far away things are like 60cm while close things shows 90 cm

doublevr I agree with you that many settings are complicated albeit non mandatory but if you tried Heresphere you can't deny, even with default settings, that video performances are much much better than DeoVR (and PlayaVR for that matter) as in, it feels smooth, actual 60 fps (you need to see it to compare, before I thought DeoVR was the smoothest, but it's not). This is the only reason i'm using Heresphere, not too bothered about the visual quality (which is better, but I think less important).
Maybe it's the Unreal Engine that is performing better on Quest 3 than Unity ? I have no idea but I was quite surprised that it was actually possible to render videos faster than it already is in DeoVR.

doublevr Is there FAQ or something documenting all the HS settings?

Sure, right next to the DeoVR settings manual 😜

Did you find the tool tips that will appear when you point on a specific setting with the hand trigger?

alkory there's DeoVR build in the making with a great performance and image quality boost. I can't believe how good things are getting

Still need to be able to adjust the haptics delay with something more like a numpad instead of a slider.

doublevr I think you need some more time with the player if your asking these questions but it's good to see you're checking it out. Let me clarify some:

Lens distance is just used for when things are incorrect in the video but I never had to change it.

Resolution is for super sampling. You either need low quality screens or very high quality video to see a major benefit. On quest it doesn't do a lot above the default unless maybe when the video is particularly well shot or with a very good camera (and in focus, e.g. the one of VR Bangers).

You normally don't override the autofocus distance for regular use (this is an extra option if you want to keep a particular distance in focus which can be useful if your not looking square at the thing you wanna focus on (e.g. a head in the lower periphery of your view)). Having the auto focus on improves perceived video quality somewhat but its mostly important for preventing double vision. This is the main feature missing in DeoVR at the moment imo as that autofocus doesn't work properly still. Also, related to your comment. In my experience the distance is almost always correct too btw except for some distant walls etc. and I've use it A LOT.

I would say check out the sharpness like other people said and also the motion tab (the distance setting). If you put the latter at about 60 cm it will basically mean the stunt cock will stay in place where it's supposed to in passthrough while moving your head which is currently not possible in deo.

I've said this before but I agree with the recent comments. Yes, perceived quality in Heresphere looks better to me and it's probably the most important factor for a player.

      Anyways, hope that helps

thx guys. surprised there's no official tutorial or something as most of these settings aren't obvious at all.

I'm excited with forthcoming DeoVR plans. There will be dynamic projection mesh where you can set an FOV of your choice removing all the legacy static mkx200 and other meshes into Advanced

doublevr thx guys. surprised there's no official tutorial or something as most of these settings aren't obvious at all.

There's a user guide in the app, and like @SchnuppiLilac said, there are explanation tooltips for every setting. DeoVR is perhaps a bit more intuitive overall but it has zero explanation for anything.

doublevr I went from a Pimax (it broke) to a Quest 3 then I just bought another Pimax.
There is a bigger difference in image improvement with the Pimax.
The Pimax doesn't have as good of a image as the Quest but it makes up for it in FOV.
I didn't notice as much of the autofocus working it's magic because the quest has a bigger sweet spot and smaller FOV. So the DEO makes most of the image in good focus. The Pimax as a little sweet spot and big FOV so HereSphere really shines when you look around in this big open world.
On all the edges of any video the image is out of focus with DEO, even if you look at it in the center of the Quest. With HereSphere it is crisp.

If you guys could get the autofocus working well then that would be a big one off the list.

rerun119 the autofocus is mostly about correcting double vision. Like a face very close or that signature lie beside you handjob thing vr edging does.

fenderwq Have you used Heresphere Autofocus?
If you tilt your head at a 45% angle, it will put it in focus.

fenderwq that signature lie beside you handjob thing vr edging does.

Why is this out of focus? Because the camera capturing the video for some reason stretches the image at the edges.
Even if you are looking at a horizontal level. If there are 2 girls and one of them is to your left or right. If you look at her the image will get distorted the further she is to the side. HereSphere corrects the image perfectly

rerun119 you misunderstand me and maybe misinterpreted you too. I used here heresphere exclusively for years so yes I know and love the autofocus. Guess we are on the same line there. Though you said the lack of autofocus on deovr with quest 3 isn't as much an issue as with the pimax (which is why I wondered if you understood what autofocus is for as it is needed regardless of your FOV). Anyways, the lack of autofocus with quest 3 and deovr is a BIG issue still that's what I was getting at with the examples

If you don't understand the advantages of Heresphere then please have a look at this scene in DEO:
              https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/stress-relief-with-venus-vixen-40792
Download it first for best quality. You will notice that the color is kind of washed out, the perceived scale changes throughout and the stunt cock position (and distance) is all over the map and constantly changing.
Now watch it in Heresphere with this hsp file placed alongside the original file (make sure the filenames match): https://mega.nz/file/YOAWRBjJ#mU1utjuvh5wuTsOSYGGEsXTI8vmQdEPQ3dznPmtpdUs
You may have to change the position one time but after that it's going to line up and scale should look better because keyframes enable constant tweaks to fix the original production quirks. You also have more natural colors and better black levels. And crucially, the hsp file is tiny and sharable, like a funscript, so only one person ever has to go through the tedious process of fixing a scene. Every VR scene needs some level of tweaking.

vrpicasso what hsp does abd how do you get it for the video?
Is it like config for with all the player settings?

For colors just change color profile in deo vr to the one you like

doublevr yes it's the settings saved for that specific video, including keyframes. There are some settings (top left in Advanced settings) that are global and are user-defined across all scenes, but most settings like color / distance / alignment etc are scene-specific and can have keyframes.

Hsp files are auto-loaded when you open a scene in Heresphere and auto-saved on exit, but there are settings you have to enable - this is the kind of thing you figure out once then never think about again so it's been a couple of years for me 🙂

Color and tonal adjustments in DEO are very basic - eg as soon as you start fixing exposure the image breaks down. It's like MS Paint vs photoshop. Obviously complex is the opposite of easy, so most users will want something simple like DEO. But really you need hidden settings for advanced users if you want to become the default player for everyone. I would treat Heresphere as the ultimate collection of settings presented in an unintuitive way, and if you can achieve the same power with a better interface then you'd have something really interesting.

doublevr Also HereSphere is fast and smooth. DEO is slow.
I don't know what causes one over the other but I just wanted to point out the differences. I have heard a couple of times that DEO app developer codes are not as well made. Don't kill the messenger, that is just what I have seen people write.

                  6 days later

The biggest thing for me by far is that in HereSphere you can browse to another video while the current video keeps playing. I know you can use the info tab in DeoVR too, but not for browsing local files.

A big plus of DeoVR is being able to control the Tcode3 sliders from within the app itself instead of having to adjust it with an external program.
