I don't understand why such pricy headsets have lower resolution than my G2. You'd expect they offer at least 2160x2160 per eye for a top class VR headset in 2023...

I see no reason why I should change to a new device that costs double as much as my current device for worse picture quality due to lower resolution. Real bummer though since the rest of the device looks pretty cool.

LordCrash Because all these stand alone headsets are based on the same chip which can only handle so much. For instance, the Pimax crystal uses this chip as well but has a higher resolution display of 2880x2880 that can only be utilized in wired PC mode. Maybe they didn't have enough performance left for 2160x2160. But yeah, its a shame.

Well, in that case it's just a badly designed product. You can't simply take the stuff that is built in and sold on the Quest 2 for like 400 bucks, put it into a fancy different device and sell it for like 1,400 bucks just because it has some other pointless gimmicks. That's seriously ridiculous. 🤦

But hey, there are always people who'll buy whatever shit they are served... 🤣

seems overpriced for a headset with a 90hz lcd and a chip that is now approaching 2.5 years old

pico 4 already show good passthrough for very good price and i'm sure that with pico 5 we get the perfect passthrough with depth and stereo and more + face tracking....again for fair good price and for the consumer folk.
