petermc not sure what your reasoning is regarding piracy

Users forget how many films they've downloaded when the timeframe is 144h.

Hackers use various tools to gain access to MANY accounts. And then they download one or two films each visit for their supporters, and the original account holder is none the wiser.

They encourage users to "download" films to their PC and then upload the films to their device, rather than streaming. Honestly, while I was a member there I didn't bother with any direct streaming. There were a few films that made their $10 Black Friday membership a good deal for me... I was very disappointed only to be able to see those films in abysmal quality. For comparison, the 6K films I watched there, and downloaded, look worse than the JAV films on here, which I stream.

SchnuppiLilac POVR: 8K h.265 14 GB
SLR: 8K h.265 9 GB, Original 8K h.265 27 GB

See that difference. POVR = 14 GB. SLR = 27 GB. ... HOWEVER, this isn't the best example, because FuckPassVR is a great studio, in that they have top-notch cameras. Compare, say, the videos on 3D Pickup (https://www.sexlikereal.com/studios/3d-pickup). The POVR algorithm makes all of those films unwatchable. The videos are fine to watch from the Studio file on SLR...

[deleted] Wankz and Povr are fine with a high bitrate and good quality in my experience. They do limit their resolution for all movies to 7680px though. Even though Vrhush, VrAllure, FhckpassVr and others provide 8192px. That's the only one I noticed a significant degradation in quality. However, I tend to watch only wankz and Povr on that site anyways.

Really nice SLR provides the originals for those studios as the quality can be truly amazing when everything is focus and lit right.

SchnuppiLilac you firstly go to POVR site in the DeoVR browser and log in using your username and password. You then find a video you want to watch and click on the download link for that scene at whatever quality you want (7K, 6K etc.) as if you wanted to download it to your headset. When you click to download it, it doesn’t actually download, it streams the scene in the headset.

This method actually works for most sites by the way, not just POVR.

comparing slr "original" downloads to povr downloads is an apples to oranges comparison. they are not equivalent. an apples to apples comparison would be slr regular downloads vs povr downloads... and in that matchup povr beats slr for quality.

btw i watched the latest 3d pickup vid on povr and slr (both regular and original) and it wasnt unwatchable on either site. the biggest issue i saw is that the studio filmed the scene at 30 fps and did a bad job at frame interpolation so its not completely smooth... but that issue affects all versions (povr download, slr regular download, and slr "original" download) identically.

spacepirate it’s not really apples to oranges. We’re just saying that SLR offers you higher quality downloads as they have the original file for most scenes whereas POVR don’t offer that option. Granted some of those original files are crazy big but they do offer the highest quality download available whereas POVR only offer a significantly compressed version.

No comment on the streaming side of things!

petermc Thanks a lot! I actually wanted to try this method but could not find the button with the three horizontal lines to hide the left hand menue which was covering the downloads tab. I have realized now that the button is where it should be but is invisible (probably because of black lines on black background).

[deleted] For that example I would clearly prefer the 14GB file. 27GB is an oversized original file, not optimized for end users and 9GB is optimized for streaming. 14GB looks like a good bitrate for download users, without checking the exact details.

Only for a few studios on SLR the original files are worth using, as they have a good bitrate intended for end users - for example SinsVR.

Some other corrections: You can stream full resolution on POVR through the prerfered Heresphere player and downloads with Internet Download Manager work totally fine and I can download 30 videos per day instead of 30 per 6 days. The first 15 full speed, the rest with bandwidth throtteling, but still fast enough to complete those 15 files within that day. If you keep downloading after 30 videos you get heavy throtteling.

And yes they have/had a bug with their encoding - but as you said, it's a bug and not the intended quality.

Your hacker story also only exisits in your fantasy. Maybe some script kiddies "hacked" a few accounts with weak passwords, but there is no big Turkish SLR hacking szene...

unsigned64 Berge16 It's been on every download page of every scene for quite some time now. And also pops up when you are nearing the limit.

I prefer options, and SLR provides options. If you don't mind lower quality films, POVR is the place for you. Sometimes the Studio file is just much much better.

"Your hacker story only exists in your fantasy". No, he makes a lot of money from what he does. I won't name names, but I got that straight from the source.

If you prefer low quality films and won't believe me when I say exactly what's going on, I don't know what to say to you.

spacepirate it wasnt unwatchable on either site

I think it was watchable in SLR quality but not watchable in POVR quality.

Studio files are, I admit, mostly useful for the few studios that shoot with older cameras. But that's exactly why I sign up for places like SLR and POVR, rather than subscribing separately to a variety of sites: these content providers offer a selection of niche stuff that may not be "high-end" quality but where the content itself can be interesting, like SLR's JAV library.

[deleted] The argument about compression on downloads kinda falls apart when you're only allowed to stream because of draconian policies enacted well after you paid for a lifetime membership.
