Natch not everyone wants this face-1-inch-from-the-camera thing you keep asking for. when the camera is that close to the subject and your eyes are physically unable bring the two images into focus it has a huge negative impact on the overall experience. the visual stimulus is by far the most important part of the vr experience... followed by sound. if all you can see is double vision and not a crisp image then its not enjoyable and most people will get a headache from trying to watching with double vision for a while. its fine in very brief bursts but not for an extended period of time like the old super close ups in nash scenes.
with all that said there is definitately a tendency for girls in western vr porn to lean back a lot which makes the experience feel less intimate and i guess thats your main point?
I definitely like when a girl is riding and her boobs are swinging in my face. The new scripted video with Nene Tanaka does a great job in the first cow girl sequence.
Maybe this is an American cultural thing but we value personal space and it’s frequent to hear “I don’t want you breathing my air”. I have never been with woman who wants me leaning in a foot or closer during sex while we are both breathing heavily. I’ve been with a lot of women who will find sex less enjoyable that way because they become self conscious about their breathing or breath. So for me personally this closeup sex breaks immersion because it isn’t realistic.
I get this is porn and a lot of it isn’t realistic but at the same time I wanted to offer a different perspective that I haven’t seen in all the conversations about closeup cowgirl and missionary.
This is a very interesting talk because early on I recall a lot western fans when introduced to JAV VR hated how close it was at times. It seems things have changed as of late.

I am not asking for a 1-inch-from-the-camera all the time. I'm asking for the camera to not always be a meter away and for the girls to interact, talk more inside the sex scenes, touch you, kiss you, be closer to what a real sex scene is, not just bouncing around a meter away. In the screenshots above the girl is close but you don't have double vision. And if she kiss you, you can close one eye to avoid double vision, a kiss is only a few seconds, but enhance the VR experience.
And I'm also not asking that all scenes have to be close-ups and face-to-face. In JAV VR (or real life) they are not. I love doggie, for example. You have to keep a balance between close and far, in JAV they get it, here they don't.
In movies of one or two hours as SLR and others shoots there is time to use all types of camera shots a few minutes and please everyone, but that does not happen.
There's one minute of close face-to-face in an hour-long movie and people complain. Instead we have to put up with 59 minutes of camera far away, and suck it up.

VR is not (yet) as real life. In real sex you "feel" the girl even if she is far away. In VR you don't have the sense of touch (yet), skin contact, actual penetration, etc., so if the girl is far away, it's not different than watching sex on TV. You need the girl to come close from time to time, feel her breathing, kiss you, touch you, look at you into the eyes, to feel that sense of realism that only VR can offer, and that in western porn is barely exploited.
She doesn't have to be close all the time, but a close sex scene from time to time in a movie to enhance the effect of presence and immersion is important and necessary in VR, in my opinion. It happens very rarely.

It is not always the case that it's the video's fault. There is a phenomenon in VR whereby the eyes try to focus upon something "closer" and therefore create the double-vision effect. The problem is that the VR headset is still the same distance from your eyes as it always was. The girl leans in, your eyes naturally "focus". But the headset hasn't moved.
This problem plagued me for months when first using VR. The solution is to relax your eyes and remember that the VR headset is still the same distance from your eyes.
Since recognizing this, all JAV is completely watchable to me. I never had the problem again. And it is AWESOME.

Natch you realize saying “it’s no different than watching it on tv” then saying “…you need that for immersion” are completely contradictory right?
Have you ever found yourself opening your mouth as a model was close to your face, or leaning a certain way or reaching for something because of the scene, it’s because it is immersive and your mind makes it feel somewhat real. And in that same way your mind can trigger the same type of reactions as if it was real. So again I say, for me, and maybe it’s only me, when she is up close all I can think about is hot breath.
I was simply offering an alternative perspective. You say this is not common in western porn and I’m simply saying it may be because it’s not common in sex in the US, at least not with any woman I’ve been with or talked to.

You are naïve to believe that culture norms don’t play a role in how people from various regions around the world have sex, make love, fuck, or whatever else you want to call it. Yes there is some personal preference in there but those personal preferences are derived from societal norms.
Specifically what I was previously mentioning was around societal norms for proximities more specifically around the norm of intimate distance. Western cultures have a much larger personal bubble and do not want people in close proximity hanging out at intimate distance for long.

Sperson I understood you perfectly. I simply disagree and I am giving you reasons why I disagree.
You are right that there are cultural connotations in sex, but I don't think they reach a general level to say "In the USA they do it that way and in Japan that way".
In JAV there are studios that shoot with the same shots as in the USA, or always shoot with the camera far away.
In SLR there are fierce debates with every release of a movie because some ask for the camera closer, some farther away, some want more doggie, some non-POV, some more anal... I don't think there are patterns by country or region, but by taste.
most of the time, when they get super super close in JAV it's still in focus.
sometimes it gets out of focus...i will take a few seconds of OUT OF FOCUS every once in a while for the time they get it right.
in 2D it was a constant close-up search...Goosebumps get me hard type of thing
