justsomedude101 ya I usually download, but thought I’d give streaming another try. Just can’t compare. I don’t think the streamers know what they’re missing.

They're just trading in a bit of quality in for convenience and when they apparently only need 5-10 minutes who can blame them? 😛 Hehee.. but seriously each way has its pros and cons and I'm sure it's also a bit dependant on what VR headset you have to see much difference in quality etc.

Aerowen Nothing can beat the convenience of my local XBVR aggregator site watched through Heresphere. It has all of my favorite studios in one place - not just the studios available on SLR.

blaze466 Everything is scripted by me. All I have to do is click the download button and the file will be moved to the correct studio folder, renamed based on meta data (pulled from the XBVR database) and the next time I use Heresphere the new scenes are available.

But I don't even need that structure while using XBVR - it's only to be future proof and not depend on XBVR forever.

blaze466 I get all that. I kinda was trolling with the suckers comments. Downloading + side quest + converting on a Mac was a pain in the ass. But for me, blurriness breaks immersion. Totally disagree about it being equal. Downloaded CzechVR on Heresphere is something else altogether than streaming, it blew my mind how better it was. Maybe some peoples eyes are more discerning.

Also Downloaders like me equal like .0001% of the users or something so nbd.

Nothing will beat convenience of streaming though.

Very little difference for me most of the time, but on some videos, I agree, there is a difference. But I have internet speeds that sometimes hit 500 mps. The major difference I have is that my very loud cooling fans seem to turn on my readily when streaming the 6k and up videos compared to watching them after I download them.

I’m always curious when I see these DL vs streaming threads. What are peoples average DL speeds?

Ive downloaded a couple videos and didn’t see a difference between DL and streaming personally but I have gigabit internet and my DL speeds are clocking at 1200 Mbps.

Is streaming mainly a problem for people with lower speeds, and if so is there a threshold that streaming is truly worse?

Depends on your watching behaviour and your environment. When you fast-forward and jump a lot while watching streaming can actually be a pain in the ass, even for people with really good internet. And it also depends whether you have the full bandwidth or whether you or anybody else in the household uses it at the same time...

LordCrash interesting. I maybe watch 30sec to a min of different sections of a videos and I scan lots of videos 20-30. Never seen degrading resolution or experienced buffering. Maybe I’m just lucky.

I always used to get annoyed with trying to find stuff on hardrives before, but xbvr on Heresphere really is amazing. Able to add tags on the fly search by studio model tags etc. All the thumb nails and scene info from the scrapers. It's like having your own exclusive VR porn site.

I should give XBVR a try again... I actually contributed to it back in 2020 and added the SLR scraper with all the studios on here along with some other studios and fixes. I liked how it would grab covers etc but it was a bit of a pain to use at first and haven't really used it since. I'm sure it's been improved a lot in the past two years.

RockyMtHigh Pretty sure that's just your internet my guy. lol I've tried streaming vs downloading the same video and barely any noticeable difference. Plus i have ADD when it comes to these videos. I'll watch 10s and if i dont like..i move on to the next video. lol

lolefae gig speeds my man. I’ve troubleshooted and am certain internet isn’t an issue. it wasn’t just one day of trials. But I’m glad it works for you.

Heresphere is a good player, but interface could definitely use some simplicity and design. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

You really don't need many of the options Heresphere offers - it runs pretty well just out of the box. But it does offer them if you want to play around with your stuff.

But I think there could be better tutorials for using stuff in it.
