Thanks for the link, I didn't know they released a trailer. That was looking pertty awesome, real solid, no see through on the eyes or hair, smh damn!
Opaque video for passthrough on the valve index?
Vrsumo2017 Hmm strange, and yes that does sound like what I mean. I double checked and I do not have any settings related to passthrough other than from the video passthrough menu though (shown in the image. Btw I turned off the "Toggle Room View" button (image in first post) here for the screenshot). Even tried a fresh install of the app. I'm not sure at this point if this is a bug or if I should post this as a feature request for non transparent video overlay on the Index
Anyway, thanks again for the help.
Vrsumo2017 Yeah looking forward to that one as well, good times

It's in the developer section in the main menu settings

Vrsumo2017 It's not available to me. I guess the instructions are for Quest?
I have the same problem /w SteamVR. The issue is that when you select "Opaque Room View" in the SteamVR settings the room is layered over the DEOVR video and UI interfaces. Which makes it effectively useless for the passthrough feature. No fiddling of settings in the DEOVR passthrough menu will make the model appear on top of the room view.
I'm not sure if this is something that's at the Steam VR level or an issue with the implementation in DEOVR. Eitherway right now you can only use this with the semi-transparent mode. Which leads to a faded out room and a faded out model. Please rectify!!
Since people are confused here's a helpful diagram.
BobbingForVeggies Love the diagram a lot

"Important Reminder for SteamVR headsets users:
1) One time only: Please ensure that your camera is enabled: SteamVR-> settings-> camera = on and Room view Camera Mode is set to Translucent Passthrough
2) Extra step before enabling passthrough in app: Please activate the room view when you want to activate the passthrough mode in app.
You may double-tap the system button on your VR controller or head unit button to quickly toggle room mode off or on. Then follow the step-by-step instruction above."
Does it help?
Unfortunately, there are certain technical limitations that came with SteamVR that prohibit the possibility of using the Opaque passthrough room view for our passthrough purposes. We were in luck, however, when we discovered that we could exploit the second-best option, which is the Translucent passthrough mode. This is the reason why we cannot make it fully opaque for SteamVR on the current version.
Also to confirm the thought from Fenderwq, the Quests, and PICOs HMD would indeed give you full opacity when using the passthrough feature. I'll record some samples from various HMDs of how it would look like and share them later with the community
So what's next in the quest for full opacity for SteamVR?
We are constantly on the lookout for the full opaque solution of course. There are lots of promising development that is happening in the SteamVR world, chances are there.
For example:
https://github.com/Rectus/openxr-steamvr-passthrough
And a couple of others that the community had shared with us before.
Hopefully, we can nail a workable solution soon.
damson Also just wanted to bump this thread to see if any progress has been made. Thanks!

Hate to say it, but I don't think this is something that's likely to happen on our end, since at this point Pasthrough for the Index would be way, way down on the priority list.
Not saying that future PC-based headsets with Passthrough capabilities couldn't change the equation, but right not I wouldn't count on it tbh.
