Vrsumo2017 sex is messy. One thing I learned is not all water based lubes are the same. Thicker consistency really helps keep it where it needs to be. You might try smaller sample sizes to find one that works best for you. It's most economical to buy by the gallon, so I stick with Swiss Navy as it's thick and cheapest for me with shipping.
I keep a few dedicated beach towels on rotation to protect the sofa or bed. Try to keep one hand clean for the remote, and if you do get some lube on it do a towel wipe or a rinse in the sink.
