I have had a subscription to SLR script streaming as soon as it came out and I think it's a great addition to the site. However the fact that it's limited to streaming (and 3 downloads monthly) can make it very inconvenient to use. Let me explain:

So, I have a pretty solid internet connection (about 70megabytes/s) but when watching some of the more high res files it really struggles. I have to wait a lot when seeking and even worse it tends to drop out for a few seconds every minute or so (this probably has to do with the fact that my computer cannot use a wired connection for practical reasons). Another thing, since I own a Pimax 8kx I like to download the best quality available (I can really notice a difference with that device). All this is why I like to use streaming just to filter out the video that interest me and than mark it for a download so I can watch it without issue's later on. I can imagine a lot of people are facing a similar issue and it can be very annoying when you want to watch that new scene and you have to wait 2 weeks for your script download limit to reset before you can.

That brings me to the my feature request. Can we have streaming for local files? I'm not asking for more downloads or anything but just to stream the script related to a local file. I can imagine several ways this could be implemented. Probably the easiest way I can think of would be to just match the filenames used on your site to the playing movie and when recognized add the interactive functionality.

I think this would be a really great feature that would make a lot of people happy. Now I get the feeling SLR would like as many people as possible to use the streaming option but like I explained, sometimes that's just not that feasible. So this might actually make the scripts subscription more appealing to some potential customers as well.

SLR app plays scripts for local files. Download the script and name the file the same name as the local file, but with the funscript extension and put it in the same folder as the video.

Or do I misunderstand your question?

mebejoe I believe what he is asking is that the video file is downloaded locally for buffering reasons but he wants to pair that with a script that’s streaming, since the download of scripts is more restrictive than video files.

Sperson , Okay. Thanks for clarifying.

@fenderwq -- please excuse my misunderstanding. Other than buying the scripts and downloading them, I think you're stuck. But maybe the powers that be at SLR will add this good idea as a feature?

fenderwq I believe Ive brought this feature request up internally previously and that its being considered on the to do list
It would make more sense to make work especially if you are ongoing SLR premium subscriber, but unfortunately Im not sure if/when this will happen

You can always purchase scripts individually, as @mebejoe mentions, which would help go directly to support script creators and provide you permanent access to those scripts for any preferred method of playback

RealcumberScripts Good to hear this might be in the works. Hopefully they will implement this sometime soonish. Btw I do buy the script sometimes if I get impatient but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a script subscription.

fenderwq hey fenderwq - really appreciate that, thank you for your invaluable support!

I know what you are trying to say, but I hope many feel that the scripts sub addon offers amazing value for what you can constantly receive and experience for the relatively low price, so I hope that support can continue, and I thank you again for yours

Maybe if more guys also chime in wanting this feature then it can help it further be prioritized.

I hope I was able to be of help in some way

I would love to be able stream scripts paired with downloaded scenes. Being restricted to 3 script downloads per month is a pain in the ass, it would go a long way to alleviate that annoyance if we could stream the scripts alongside our local files.

              11 days later

              +1 to this feature request.

I'm on the same boat where I have to download videos locally since streaming is not an option. With 3 download limit, 'Premium + Script' doesn't provide value for me compared to regular 'Premium' since the cost is $10 more, but 3 scripts generally cost less than that (assuming $2.99 per regular buy). I do understand the limit should be in place to protect scripters.

From a business perspective, this should be a feasible feature since another cohort within 'Premium+Script' is already using this (stream video + stream script), so adding it for my cohort (local video + stream script) is not different by much. One possible con is that my cohort can tend to download larger videos (i.e. original files) so that bandwidth cost needs to be considered.

From a technical perspective, there will be a bit of work to match a local video file name to the correct script. Besides that I don't see any difference between "local video + stream script" vs "stream video + stream script" since (at least for the handy) scripts are sent to the machine, now it will only differ in its origin location (sent in from SLR servers instead of from my headset).

We are working on a feature to upload scripts for any SLR streaming video.

doublevr Thank you for the reply. To clarify, is that a different feature from what's requested here? It sounds more like 'stream video + local script' vs 'local video + stream script' (if you have Premium+Script of course).

2 weeks for the team to respond with yes are we working on this, but actually no working we are working on something completely different 🀣🀣

dojimmy He said the same thing twice, worded differently.

Streaming video + your own script, that is not available on the interactive toys filter.
But you already can do that, Just rename the script to the scene ID + .funscript and put it in the Interactive folder.

Rakly3 that is not what was being asked for by the op or anyone else in this thread, we are asking to be able to watch local files while streaming the matching script.

So literrally we all said we want to be able to stream scripts with local file videos. The response was yes we are working on streaming videos with local scripts. Surely you can see that is not the same or even anywhere similar to what is being asked for. So what you are saying and also working on is not the same thing worded differently af all.
