Johnny166 Try leaving the resolution in pitool as the default 1, but take a look at what SteamVR has your render resolution at (it lists it "per eye"). I use an 8k x as my main headset, and there is a known issue of SteamVR frequently changing the render resolutions with Pimax headsets, sometimes to levels that are WAY to high (which can result in choppiness/crashes). Doesn't matter how beastly your GPU or rig is if the render resolution is trying to pump out 8k per eye or something equally crazy.
Also be sure to take a look specifically at the render resolution listed for the SLR App, not just the generic one listed for SteamVR in general. You'll need to actually be running the app to see this.
Also - some general requirements for smoothly running h265 (aka HEVC) files with Windows, if you haven't already looked into this:
1.) HEVC Video Extension, available in the Microsoft store. Once upon a time there were links to a free version on the r/ocuslusnsfw subreddit, so you might be able to find a link there if you don't want to pay. Can't promise whether it still exists though.
2.) K-lite codec pack
Again, both of these are needed to smoothly play most scenes released in the past few years. If you right click on a 6k+ scene that you have downloaded (specifically an h265 file) and select "Movies & TV" as the app to play the scene with - if the video is still choppy, it's more than likely due to needing the above 2 items. If the video plays smoothly, then your choppiness/stuttering issue in VR is very likely due to a SteamVR setting.
