Philip your old scenes are only 2-3 years old so they still look pretty ok tbh. Not sure there’s much gains to be made.

@Philip Sure. I think this upscale was done with a version of Topaz. Why don't you ask the studio for the original and reprocess it using your deep leaning algorithm? And then compare the results... I don't think the texture packs from Topaz are very effective for VR. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of what your new approach can achieve.

these machine learning models sadly cant do anything to improve the color accuracy of these old videos and for me thats a bigger problem than the low resolution

You do not need AI to correct colors, you even could do it yourself.

ibins i said color accuracy not color correction. if the camera the scene was filmed with was some consumer level garbage, as is the case for all these old vr scenes, the colors captured are not accurate compared to real life

Philip What software are you using, Topaz? If that's Topaz then the distortion will probably come when seeing the enhancements combined as a VR film, since they trained their algorithm with 2D texture models.
