Depends what you define in better.
The resolution is actually very similar, G2 has 2160x2160 per eye, Quest 2 1832x1920 per eye. But the G2 has 114° FOV, Quest 2 only 100°, so spatial resolution should be about the same.

Obviously G2 has as already mentioned FOV advantages, and while 14° do not sound much it is definitely noticable.

Obviously Quest 2 can be used stand alone, the G2 not, so the Quest 2 is much more flexible.

And if you plan to use it not just for videos but also for gaming, the controller tracking of the Quest 2 is much better, I would even say the Oculus headsets are the only ones with camera based tracking, that are good enough for gaming, and even they are noticeable worse then lighthouse systems.

So there is no such simple one is better then the other, both have advantages and disadvantages.

Beyond the resolution, you have to take into account the supersampling that you can apply.

With a PC and a good graphic card you can add 500% supersampling to a 4K video, and 200 or 300% to an 8K video. You can't do this with a standalone Quest 2.

Natch Beyond the resolution, you have to take into account the supersampling that you can apply.

Supersampling on renderscale does not change videos at all.
It possibly improves UI elements and other things that are rendered in realtime, it does not improve any static elements like textures or videos.
Even with 8k videos (which is actually only 4kX4k per eye) we are still on a level where we have more display pixels inside the headset then video pixels to feed. On top of that video pixels usually do have some "unsharpness" inherent, because of optical shortcomings and the fact we still use bayer sensors.

ibins Of course supersampling changes the video A LOT. I use 100% supersampling, then change to 300%, and nigh & day. DVD vs blu-ray.

Of course you need to use a player and a graphic card that apply the supersampling in the right way like HereSphere or Virtual Home Theater.

No it does not. Supersampling a video to 300% does the same as taking a picture into photoshop, upscale it by 300% and then scale it back down.
Supersampling works by taking more samples, but in a video you the samples are already in the video, you can not get more afterwards.
