I think it would be really cool if you could play two videos at the same time to fill the full 360° and have full functionality with both videos at once. So theoretically you could also be watching two of the same video at once and you could set them to your favorite point A-B points to enjoy both at the same time by just turning your head a bit to see the other part. It could also be fun to watch two of your favorite scenes at the same time maybe when ones at a boring part instead of skipping ahead you just turn to see what's on the other instead. This would look really great for two scenes you like that both have the same background.
I realize that a little of the edges might be missing from the 200° films but I still think most people would still enjoy having this duo playability available even for those films.

you can only watch one at a time... unless you have eyes in the back of your head. no one can physically rotate their head 180 degrees. to use this you would have to rotate the scene or physically rotate your entire body and that is not convenient especially if you are seated or laying down.

just change video... its a lot easier

Well I'm standing when I'm watching VR and it's very simple to watch 360° content in the standing position.
Changing a video is not easier then turning your head or turning around, because you can do it without touching a controller aka hands free to watch two videos at once.
And if your worried about a double UI when your not watching two at time it would need to be toggle able so that it's only visible when you want to use it.

sounds like it would be no good unless standing and using your hands for stimulation. using it with a hands free setup would be really impractical.

talking/sound from each video would overlap too

Yeah it would be great for standing or sitting on a bed or the floor any of the situations that are ideal for anything that is 360° like gaming etc.

It's not a big deal to have sounds overlaying each other and if you don't like it you could just mute one of them or even both if you want.

I'm not sure why you seem against this idea are you one of the programers that works on the apps? If I was the creator of the app I could make this idea a reality within just a few hours it's mostly just copy and paste and I would use this feature everyday possibly for years to come and I would enjoy having it and anyone who doesn't want to use it doesn't have to. It would just sit hidden back un-toggled in the settings like it was never there.

GetReal im not against it just playing devils advocate and also questioning the usefulness of it to a broader group of users. if its a niche feature only useful to a small group of people then chances are the developers arent going to spend hours/days/weeks to make it happen.

GetReal You run into technical codec and/or hardware limitations here, possibly even HDMI cable limitations. And they will be very device specific as to what can and can't be played like this. One PC might be able to do it up to 4K and another PC only up to 1080p.
The quest 2 probably can't do it at all.

One way to do it would be to change both videos from SBS to TB, then stitch both videos together SBS and set it as a 360° TB video. The combined video file also must be 8K or less with each video having the exact same resolution.

Rakly3 Interesting I was just thinking it would be equal to a 360° video. I didn't realize it would be consuming much more ram. I guess because it would be trying to run a lot more then if they were just 1 merged video. Thanks 👍 for the info at least I learned something out of this.
