  • Slow connection on SLR app/website in Quest 2

Hi, am using Netduma R2 router and my Quest 2 is only using like 5-10Mbps while watching videos on SLR website or the app, and yep videos are barely playable. But using other websites (POVR, ChezchVR, etc) and apps uses normal bandwidth it should and works fine.

mgrboi I had this issue, and turns out for me it was my ISP throttling the site. Don't know if it was a global thing or just a local thing for me since I download hundreds of GB's some weeks and in general far more from SLR than other pay sites, but for me the solution was to use a VPN. Once I started using a VPN, I haven't had the issue since.

Do you use or have you tried using a VPN? If not- I'd suggest you find one that has a "30-day no questions asked" refund policy, which plenty of them do. That way even if it doesn't solve the issue, you can just submit your request for a refund and won't be out anything. But in general this is the first step I'd suggest trying since it seems like it's often the issue.

And if you do want to give it a shot, I'd suggest NOT using any "free versions" that most VPN's offer. The free versions are usually limited to a single server option and are themselves severely throttled, since obviously they're just meant to give a sample of their services.

justsomedude101 Hi, thank you for your reply. I have downgraded the firmware on the router and its been working fine for a while now, guess mines was the problem with router itself as the problem was with quest 2 only. Other devices were working fine with SLR.

Are you using 2,4G or 5G WiFi? 2,4G is usually very hit and miss depending on your location, and not really great for streaming.

But I have to say the app does severely slow down the connection speed for some reason. I have a 300MBit connection to my ISP, when I do the speedtest on the site on a Desktop Browser as well as on the Browser of the Quest 2 (when running with 5GHz Wifi) maxes this out. But the speedtest in the App is always severely slower, usually in the 50-100MBit/s range, which still is plenty enough for streaming, but weird.

Also in the past the CDN sometimes got quite confused for some reason. I live in Europe and for some reason it sometimes connected to servers in the US which obviously leads to pretty bad experiences, but I did not see this recently. I sometimes miss the old times where you could manually select the server you want to use instead of relying on a CDN to do it, which sometimes very obviously does not take the optimal source (not just related to slr, but pretty much any site that uses CDN)
