Honestly this is completely pointless. The only reason going for CGI would be if it is real time rendered with full 6DOF tracking.

With pre rendered CGI videos you get the worst of both worlds, freedom limited at the time of rendering, combined with the low quality of CGI compared to a real video.

ibins Some folks do enjoy the CGI element though, even if it's not for everyone. And there may be others who would like to see what CGI VR games have to offer, but may not currently have a $2000 rig like you need to get more that 15fps in Virt-a-mate.

6dof is always going to be better when it's an option, but for Quest 2 and a huge amount of PC users it's not a realistic option right now sadly.

What's the point of 2D videos on a VR site?

And btw: if you are announcing new additions, could you also announce the ones that left please (e.g. GroobyVR)?

To the best of my knowledge, GroobyVR is still with us. In fact they just recently uploaded a scene. As for 2D videos, well, it's a matter of taste I suppose. Additionally, there are a handful of users that suffer headaches from artificial depth in 3D VR, and the 2D can help alleviate that. It also can boost performance on lower end headsets and result in higher framerates and better video quality for those with struggling hardware.

Obviously, most of our users are here for the highly immersive, high quality, HD VR videos with full 3D to really bring the scenes to life, but if there are a handful of studios catering to a 2D audience then I don't personally see the harm in that. We do try to tag flat videos properly so you know what you're getting in advance.
