I am currently using an Oculus Go, but it's high time for an upgrade. If I upgrade to the Quest 2, how drastically will the video quality improve in SLR? And just to be clear, I will be streaming, I don't download the files.
Oculus Go vs Quest 2
kelzvr Putting aside my passionate disdain for FB/Meta - It would be a huge improvement. Like enormous.
The clarity/resolution is substantially better on the Quest 2, the screen door effect is minimal and generally not noticeable (very noticeable on the Go), the colors are much better, the Quest is capable of playing any size/resolution file that's currently out and isn't limited to 4k like the Go (so you can gain the full benefit of 6k/7k/8k videos), the FOV is a little bit larger, and on and on.
If you spend a decent amount of time watching VR porn, it would be a solid investment over the Go.
justsomedude101 Thank you for that info!

I first had a Go, then a Quest and since quite a while I am using the Quest 2.
By far the best upgrade so far and definitely what you want to get!
Made the upgrade about a year ago, much better video quality and emersion.
had a GO initially for about a month...battery seemed to last about an hour and bestbuy took it back...got the Q1 which has been great for 2years.
would have upgraded immediately to the Q2, but i still don't need to sign up for FB acct yet and kinda hoping something better will come down the pike in 2022...earlier the better
i use it every day...for 2D stuff...no need for laptop in the bed anymore waking anyone up...boots up fast and can surf the internet.
willing to pay 2500bucks or more for something GREAT with NO tether
spanker willing to pay 2500bucks or more for something GREAT with NO tether
If you're looking specifically for untethered, the Quest 2 is about the best thing out right now as far as I'm aware. Which at least means you'd have about $2100 left over haha
Tethered headsets would give you quite a few options that would show significant improvement over the Q1, but again: tether.
Should be new headsets coming out in late 2022 - early 2023, so can always hope
Vive Focus 3 should be better, same SOC, way more FOV and more resolution as well as better optics.
But.. also at least 4x more expensive, but if he is willing to spent 2500 the Focus certainly is an option.
ibins Oof, yeah you're right- the Focus 3 would technically be better. But definitely agree that it's not quite 4x the price better haha.
might break down and get the Q2 in next few months...waiting on possible new announcements
part of the extra money willing to spend...is to not have a FB sign up...BUT if FB came out with something a lot better with THE signup, I would spend it there also.
need non-tether....don't ever want laptop in bedroom again...NOW that I am used to not having one
justsomedude101 l want know whether it can play slr originals videos of MKX200_FB360 format

innol Yes, it can. Quest 2 can play any of the resolutions offered on the site/app, including 8k scenes.
The only exception I've ever come across would be some of the "Original" files for SLR Originals when downloaded, as in the ones that are routinely 60gb+ in size. And I believe that's just due to the insanely high bitrate.
But streaming up to 8k is no problem for the Q2 ️
looks like meta announced the date on release of cambria in october and price is rumored to be in the 1500bucks range
