Fair use policy

Excuse my ignorance here because I only joined SLR a few weeks ago, but I having a problem downloading today and I seem to be confused as to what the download policy is. Up to now, I thought the download policy was 50 videos every 3 days. Today, I got a message saying that my monthly download limit was reached and that my "full allocation of 30 downloads becomes available again in 3h 42min". Did the download policy change? Am I now only allowed 30 downloads per month?

masterblaster My advice would be to continue downloading where possible (the internet in my country is lacking and my streaming experience is not that great sometimes. Nothing to do with SLR, just my local internet sucks lol). Not all studios allow downloading of their videos, but that is a small percentage of the total content, plus guards against a studio deciding to remove content from SLR (when they decide to start their own streaming platform, for example).

doublevr , thanks for the advice. It does appear they changed their policy ...unless I was singled out for doing something they didn't like.
I like to download because I like to make sure I don't risk losing the videos if SLR pulls them down. Also, by adjusting the filenames, I can organize the files the way I want.

Seems dodgy to me, changing terms after somebody has already signed up.

MikeOxmall That's what is strange to me. SLR seems very responsive to its customer base, so this seems very peculiar.

To play devil's advocate here, I'll just point out that:

1.) any time a company changes its TOS or fair use policy, it's going to be after people have signed up. Otherwise companies would never be able to update either: they would need to end everyone's access, update, then re-sign everyone up. Or alternatively they would need to apply a "by member" policy depending on when you signed up, for how long, when your renewal is, etc...which I can't even imagine how they would actually execute.

2.) I think an email notification would be a good idea in general (like most e-companies do annually), though tbh I don't think I've ever received a single TOS or fair use policy update notification from any porn company I've ever subscribed to, so I don't think it's by any means SLR-exclusive.

justsomedude101 Thanks for your comment. I am not objecting to the change in TOS or fair use policy, but would have just liked to have the SLR folks notify us. I wasn't sure if I was being singled-out or didn't understand something.

In the meantime, I must say that I am really enjoying this site. It is my first pay porn site and have been very pleased at the fact that they have a high percentage of scenes with truly pretty girls. I just wish so many of the girls would avoid the tats and the implants, whether in the boobs or lips. But fortunately, I also know that many guys don't care and it is great that there are at least some pretty girls that don't mess themselves up -- at least too much.

Well probably the most correct way to do it would to not change anything for existing customers and only adapt it for new customers, and of course tell them beforehand and not on page 20 in the TOS.
The second and maybe more important thing is, any change in a contract afterwards that is not in favor for the customer means an immediate right of withdrawal for the customer. So technically anyone who signed up before the fair use policy was changed would have the right to reclaim the money they already paid.

And of course the probably worst is to try to do this in secret. Changes in TOS of long term contracts happen all the time, but if a company decides to change a contract one sided, they have to inform the customer a decent period before the new rules are active what the change is, and that they have the right to withdraw before the changes are active.

Some situations just don't have a perfect solution.

Also by the end of the day streaming is far superior. Especially with all the things we have in the pipeline.

Well the recent events with videos being pulled off without any warning and probably never be available at least in the same form again have shown that downloading always is and always will be superior.

BTW: While streaming is more convenient I never would have signed up if downloading was not an option.

doublevr As a "lifer," is there any chance of working it into the system that anyone with over 20 years sub time left can go back to unlimited downloads? It's fair to assume a lifetime subscriber isn't going to download everything and cancel their sub.

When did this start? I didn't notice. Though I don't really download much. Streaming is much easier.
