Update: Moved to https://forum.sexlikereal.com/d/8773-include-vr-headset-model-and-deovr-version-for-your-technical-inquiries

Use this thread for all streaming and download speed issues. It's recommended to use the SLR app or DeoVR player for streaming and playback. If downloading, download one file at a time.

Please follow these steps before reporting:

  1. Check https://www.sexlikereal.com/speedtest and let us know your ID

  2. If the speedtest isn't good check https://www.sexlikereal.com/blog/117-check-your-connection-for-streaming-5k-60fps-video-with-this-slr-speedtest-tool

As multiple users report:

I used to rag on SLR for β€˜their’ piss poor download speeds which was my experience about a year ago. Re-subbed and I am now getting highway fast downloads. It was never them it seems.

It's really easy to get the speeds to enjoy VR with https://www.starlink.com/

Just tried it in the office. You easily get 220Mbps just by placing that thing on an open space looking into the skies πŸ‘

VR bandwidth is only going to grow. 50Mbps is the bare minimum now.

I'm getting slow speeds on my oculus quest 2 using both deo and slr app. 80 ping / 32mbps streaming / 28mbps parallel. Test id 134151. 2.4/5g network 400mbps

Compared to my desktop using the same 5g wireless connection I get 32.7 ping / 315mps streaming / 493mbps parallel.
Test id 134150.

So I haven't used SLR in a while but resubscribed today and I cannot watch a single video every SLR original video I select barely starts before buffering every few seconds. My internet speed is 100Mbps I never had issues on the site a few months before and I'm not seeing where the video quality is any different I'm right besides my router(which I was not before) connected to 5ghz so what's my problem? I also have no problem streaming videos off YouTube using the quest 2 in a higher resolution than the videos so I'm stuck. I also use XBVR to stream my other videos but the only place I'm experiencing any type of lag is with SLR site. Even just opening the site initially takes a while.

Resolution is not the same as bitrate. But I'm pretty sure this isn't your problem.

Being close to your router doesn't automatically mean better connection. There's 100 reasons you might be having issues. If you haven't already please contact me through our support.

It's a lot easier for me to follow up through support and much safer to share information.

Can you do the speedtest with the Oculus browser too? To check if it's the same as the Quest app result or the PC result. If it's on par with the Quest app result, then the issue if very likely at home. I then would recommend getting a (free) wifi analyzer app and check for connection strength and saturation with neightbour' wifi. If your router allows setting bandwidth range, set it to 40Hz instead of 20Hz.
(This should be a sub-setting of the 2.4Ghz/5Ghz settings)

Are you just having "slow speeds" or actual streaming/connection issues? The app on Quest is capped at 50Mbps.
I do want to stress that I'm talking about THE APP ON OCULUS QUEST!! Not PC, phone, browser etc!

With my normal internet connection, no special access to SLR. Just as a normal user, I'm getting 125MB/s download.
      (1Gbps, Belgium - Germany)

Temtem I often have issues playing SLR Originals. My trick is to exit the video and click to play it again. This usually works.

Sometimes if I have trouble streaming a video on SLR, I'll toggle the switch in the Settings for "Alternative if default not working" and then it plays instantly. SLR Original videos don't give you that option for some reason though.

This is what I do on PC/Windows Mixed Reality though. Not Quest 2. But maybe this trick will work for you?

Your info is correct, but this does not apply to native Oculus (meaning without PC)
The toggle is for Windows switching between DirectX and Media Foundation.

SLR Original videos don't give you that option for some reason though.

        Are you using mp4, mkv, H264, H265, 2019 and older/newer?
SLR or DeoVR? DeoVR from Steam or Oculus store?

Question; What type of download speeds is everyone getting here when downloading actual videos?

        I'm seeing anywhere from 2.5 mb/s - 8 mb/s
Typically it's about 5-6 mb/s which seems low. Not unusable but I would be expecting something more like 10 mb/s on average(which i did get on here a year ago with the same internet connection).

Okay guys... For the whole day Google Play won't download some small apps on my phone. Even Google has the same problems like us

        2 years later

Over the past couple of days, I have noticed some persistent loading/server issues when using SLR in DeoVR on Q3 (at around 8 pm UTC). Video streaming is more or less okay, except that AI PT masks are delayed or get stuck from time to time. What's mainly affected are functions related to navigating through the app. I am seeing a lot of spinning dots, like when going back from a video to the grid. And what's most affected are playlists: Quite often it takes me several attempts to get into a playlist, and the failed attempts end with a server error message.

Maybe it's just me, I have not seen anyone else complaining so far in the forum.

PabloSLR Thanks for your response. I will check the speeds next time when I have this issue. Today, the playlists and all other functions in DeoVR were super snappy.
