What's the point of censoring a US porn scene that is easily accessible in its original, uncensored form to all Japanese users by simply using a VPN?

      LordCrash A whole bunch of reasons I would assume: being able to advertise in ways and places that would not necessarily be legal if you're promoting uncensored content, being able to market to a substantially larger user base who has already lived with and grown accustomed to censored content, not limiting yourself to only users who will want to jump through the extra hoops to use a VPN and hope their payments will be accepted by payment brokers outside the country (and who would already be doing that anyway), to not do something of questionable legality (in Japan) or anger anyone who might otherwise be able to put a stop to any long-term plans to produce SLR JAV, to massively increase the video quantity available on the .jp site and be far more competitive in a market primarily centered on PPV scenes, etc.

      If anything I'm hoping that this will put the pressure on more JAV VR studios to upgrade their mostly-ancient rigs. I can usually look past the censorship/pixilation myself, but I can't really look past the 4k visuals that look straight out of 2019.

        Good to see things are moving forward with this, hopefully it means scenes with Japanese talent are coming at some point

        LordCrash So much for being a contract if they can be unconditionally cancelled. We need a plan for the releases that several months after being released ... all of a sudden "cannot be released," then taken down for compliance. If it takes 4 months for a film to release, it should take 4 months for a film to be unreleased. SLR's one-day-after-the-fact notice is not enough.

        To any admin, I hope you can start a dedicated thread for studios/videos that are on the chopping block (or formally under review) that gives us ample time to stream or download because I sure miss that beach scene from VRGoddess that I never got to see. 😔 It will forever haunt me everytime something like this comes up.           This doesn't make sense. If the performers don't raise objections within four months, the film can be released, but if they raise objections within the first two years, it cannot be released?

          What if the film is released after five months and then a performer objects during the 8th month? The film is pulled from sale?

          I think somebody is misinterpreting the law because that would not really be workable.

          Okay, here is a bit more of an explanation. The two years is only for the first two years after passing the law, as a transition period. But there still will be a one year time frame to halt distribution, according to this article.

          It seems to be enacted to protect women "forced" into performing by circumstances as well as through undue pressure.

          I have a lot of opinions on the subject of how performers are treated, having known several performers quite well in my younger days, and still maintaining friendships with many of them after they left that business (and other sex work as well).

          Most of my opinions run counter to my consumption. But they are still going to make the videos even if I don't buy them
