  • Looking to re-brand SexLikeReal into sexual wellness product

BobbyBadass Brand" it however you want. The reality remains that for most users, VR porn represents a compulsive, addictive escape into a fantasy land. I grade it on a par with hard drugs, from personal experience.

Exactly! I think most guys (like me) are here for two reasons .... lust and loneliness...
Especially the life cam girls make a business out of it... playing with feelings....
However... its highly addictive! I see guys being here every day... spending huge amounts of money and definitely lost control... like in gambling, drugs, alcohol...
But... it is how it is... and at the end, i am here too... 😉

it can BE marketed to those with disabilities...the benefits ARE real

that could be word of mouth....simple articles from people with disabilities on blogs or magazines

as far as all the other stuff...so what...lots of things have the sort of moderation. THOUGH, for someone totally disabled, to get the motivation to exercise, so he could actually fuck a toy? very beneficial...even if he got addicted to it. ANY movement is good.

mnmlikereal I can totally see that coming. We are going to investigate what's the best way to put it. I'd wish to get more wellness practitioners around. VR has a huge potential that way

This is just my feedback as you asked what people think.

For me porn is fantasy, not sex education and I’m really not looking for porn videos to start showing only what is healthy and responsible in real life sex. I’m not sure if that’s what you’re suggesting when you talk about responsible porn.

I like all types of porn depending on my mood at the time. Sometimes I like really immersive loving GFE porn but other times I like really hardcore porn with anal, rough sex, slapping, watersports etc. I’m really not looking for sites to start becoming the porn police and telling me I shouldn’t watch certain types of porn as those sex acts are not healthy in real life, it’s bad enough with the credit card companies already effectively banning perfectly legal porn as it doesn’t comply with their own moral code. I’d rather have a huge spectrum of different types of scenes to pick and choose from.

I may be totally misunderstanding what you are suggesting but it has me a little concerned, I’m not going to lie.

The innovation & great content isn't going anywhere I'm sure 😀

I think it's more about what the site and VR can potentially be (now and in the future), especially as it compares to the current stigma often associated porn. Right now despite how great or mind-blowing or impressive the content and tech is, 9/10 people's reaction will be: "meh, so it's porn".

It's 2022 and we're basically living in "the future" with technologies that people have pretty much dreamed about for forever. And maybe somewhere in there, there's the possibility that Virtual Reality (and even VR porn) can be used for the better, and that general health & sexual wellness could be a part of that.

But as I often have to disclaim, this is just my personal interpretation of everything.

blaze466 I think many people have a stigma that porn enthusiasts are a sleazy, creepy community.

I think most people watch it these days. Even most of the girls I have dated have mentioned that they watch porn often.

GoodIdeaBadIdea I'm also inclined to think that way. Sex workers industry is huge, porn sites audience is enormous. I would expect more or less everyone to be there one way or another.

The world would be much better place if people would be open about it

petermc nah, we are not going to replace our regular content with sex ed. It's gong to be filthy yet we are exploring to put cool stuff into it that would greatly benefit it.

We put the actual value into things and not bullshitting you guys

That’s a relief! Well I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what you have in mind. I do wish there was less of a stigma associated with porn, especially for the performers who give us so much and I imagine suffer many real life problems as a result of their choice of career.

One of the things that attracted me to SLR was @doublevr's goal to be something more than just another porn site. My goal is to ensure that SLR is a place where adults can explore their sexual needs and achieve sexual wellness in a fun, safe, consensual, legal and ethical environment.

I am immensely proud of the way we do things and SLR is committed to leading the way to ensure that everyone involved in our ecosystem, from performers to our users are healthy, happy and having a good time.

If anyone is interested there are a lot of cool behind-the-scenes innovations that SLR is leading the way with.

petermc It's all about co-creation. We can do as much as there are people around ready to do something.

I am a big fan of the site, but I dont think anyone is going to be fooled by rebranding - Everyone knows what is being offered when they subscribe to the site - I think you have to ask yourself "does it pass the mom test?" - Is it going to be something you explain to your mom and say "its ok mom, its a sexual wellness site" and she agrees with you?

catflap I mean the same thing tastes differently depending how you pack it. It's a known fact. We are staying on a positive side of things what can induce even more of a positive change for sexual exploration

doublevr one thing I would love, even if you lost half of your models, is for us to know that they are really enjoying what they do and victims of trafficking or whatever -
I know you said it isnt a problem (great!) but I would love to know I wasnt harming anyone.
There are a couple of video sites which give me those vibes to be honest.

Anyway that is my opinion on how to be involved with "sexual wellness" - to recognize that there are actresses who are 100% into what they do, and those are the only ones that I will ever see on SLR + its affiliates 😄

              catflap

There are a couple of video sites which give me those vibes to be honest.

Can you point these out to me? I will check it out.

catflap so far we don't have even a slight evidence of anything like that being featured on SLR. I can't imagine anything like that happening in our eco-system. Why would anyone do that if you have a sound market available at reasonable prices? And if any of that happens you have twitter at your immediate disposal.

Things changed a lot over time. VR standards is way above flat porn. You can think of VR as the next level which is yet to become a global mainstream product. With such a strong foundation I highly doubt we will ever witness a major abuse or harassment unless some few exceptions within statistical expectations which we will be quick to address.

SLR took a number of stands and principal decisions over time. No one here is interested to mess things up what is expected to be something exceptionally great.

Polar let me give it some thought and mail you directly (if that is possible)

TLDR: there is still more that can be done to make your users feel the porn is being made ethically and the site is truly setting the standard for accountability and compliance. Give your models a platform to have a voice and hold producers accountable, fix payment processing, improve 2257 documents, add RTA and ASACP certifications, add parental controls, and surface all the compliance work you are doing to create the new standard onto your landing page so users see it.

Grab a coffee this is a long one.

Let me start by saying by no means do I want this to come off as disrespectful, these are only my views and opinions on how to make users feel more comfortable in the site as it’s rebranded as sexual wellness.

I appreciate how engaged the SLR team is with their users and how active the forums are. It gives a voice to the users and helps build a community around a great product. Honestly I stop into the forum before looking at the new videos now.

doublevr i agree with catflap on this one. It’s great that SLR takes compliance seriously and you say it isn’t a problem but saying it, and making users existing and especially new truly believe it are two different things. If you truly believe there isn’t anything shady going on with any vent content producer anywhere I fear that may be a head in the sand approach. Instead actively seek it out to weed out any problems before it turns into a porn hub situation years later.

Don’t be Nike in the 90s providing lip service to the public while knowing there are sweatshop conditions going on in the factories. https://www.newidea.com.au/nike-sweatshops-the-truth-about-the-nike-factory-scandal

                    RTA Parental controls, & ASACP
SLR is the only porn site in recent memory that doesn’t have an RTA overlay on the landing page, or an RTA logo/link in the footer. There is no mention of parental controls or safe browsing guidelines. There is no link to asacp certification. There are no brag links to articles about SLR were mentioned in well known publications (like vrporn.com)

                    2257 & MasterCard
Finally the 2257 statement puts the onus on the user to go out to all the dozens of studios to validate they have a 2257 compliance location instead of listing all the information for the user (like xhamster a top 5 largest porn site https://xhamster.com/info/2257 ). Or even better stating in your 2257 statement that you are keeping records of all information now because while SLR is not an American company required by law to keep that information, In all your compliance work to be compliant with MasterCard processing which is an American company any porn site must keep records of all performers and content depicted on their site regardless if they are producer or a secondary service. https://www.mastercard.com/news/perspectives/2021/protecting-our-network-protecting-you-preventing-illegal-adult-content-on-our-network/

If you have all that information listed above there is no reason why you can’t use the metadata from the video to post the publication date of video under its if and model age at publication under the model in the video details.

                    Payment processing
A final note about MasterCard is finding a way to make us payment processing work better. Many have stated on other threads that billing fails because most US payment processors don’t work with epoch in EU but how does your general user know that is the reason and not some other reason like MC flagged this as a non-compliant site .

                    Surface your compliance work.
After all of this there could be blog posts or even something in your banner spinner that link to all the compliance work you are doing and surface it for all users to see, instead of burying this information deep within the forum. It could even show what the various rules are country by country and how you have cataloged them all

                    Models
Hold your producers to the highest standards, provide interviews with the models, give them a platform to speak so we know they want to be here and like doing this, and don’t feel coerced, forced or that they don’t have a voice. https://goat.com.au/relationships/mia-khalifa-speaks-out-shining-a-troubling-light-on-the-porn-industry/?amp You see in this post Mia Khalifa talk about her bad experience, but still defends people’s choices and pushes for ethical porn practices while Abella Danger defends the industry. There are different views, and I know me as a user I want to make sure models are being treated on the ethical side of the industry, and have a way to tell/show us that with interviews on their profiles, or special Live AMAs during a shoot in your live section. In addition to providing them a place to speak it all translates to views for you and site . People like hearing from the real model look at the gabby Carter interview 45k views in 1 month. https://youtu.be/8UZ8beflRb0

I’m Sure this post isn’t going to win me any friends here after reading all the comments on the compliance thread but at the end of the day if it’s about becoming a site synonymous with sexual health and wellness then users need to feel like they are in a safe space and not in some shady site on the internet.

I’m sorry for the long post but this is something I have been thinking about for a while as I have silently watched this and the various compliance threads grow over time.
