Darkpri and @UrsRuettli ... I can relate to where you guys are coming from. But there are always two sides to every story and I think in the end we have to remember what we are here for, to each their own. It's been several months since I've been in cams and I know what you're talking about with people not paying; but there were also people who were paying gratuitously even if the model didn't get nude, and of course not all models are treated equally, neither are all viewers treated equally. On the flip side, it hurts the same when you don't have enough money to pay when you really want to, or if you do pay then it's not enough, or you pay big and the model doesn't follow through, or when the model's attention is focused on her larger 2D cam audience instead of us VR folks.
There's an interesting parallel between workers, employers, and OSHA laws being established to prevent worker discrimination; kind of what we're hinting with SLR or Dreamcam to do for VR cam girls. It's great and doing what can be done to help the cam girls would be helpful, but even these entities can be blindsided by uncontrollable events or be abused by higher powers like what's happening in the news today with the President pushing OSHA to mandate employers cripple certain employees. That's when personal responsibility comes into action. What can we do ourselves to make the situation better without compromising what we feel in our hearts? For companies, they could be tackling the biggest problems in order to keep the business going, while the smaller minority concerns have to be put on the sidelines. From the outside, it might look bad, but under the circumstances we all are trying to make the right decisions. For those losing their jobs standing up for their freedom, it looks bad, but to them it's the right decision. In the end they are responsible for their own lives despite how they are being negatively perceived. Likewise the models are responsible for their life choices despite how we may perceive their situations without seeing the whole picture.
Try not to be too hard on yourselves, at some level we all signed up for this (pun not intended). We are generally getting what we want, including the models. Some of us have certain challenges like not having a source of income, slower download speeds, lower quality headsets, not having the peace-of-mind benefit of watching VR Porn whenever we want, or can't stream without buffering issues, as was my case not able to watch cams anymore because Dreamcam upped their stream-quality. However, whenever we are satisfied, unsatisfied, or things are just not working, it's natural for us to give up, retire, try something else, or just move on. And that's fine, that's how things are, that's how jobs, employment, and recreational activities are.
Personally, as I felt the same way, I made the decision to not go into cams unless I had tokens to give. It takes time to get to that frame of mind and not every one gets there, but at least we can help in that capacity. If a greater number did the same thing, the outcome would be different and these concerns wouldn't exist. But right now at the very least we feel better knowing we gave and did our part and they will feel better and be encouraged to continue another day. We raised awareness of the situation but they also have a responsibility to raise their concerns to their producers if they have any. If it's really bad and they all quit, then change will happen much faster. We all have a part to play, but it's not for any of us to play the WHOLE part.
On a side note it's great that we have forums to discuss things like this. Naughty America changed their web page design which eliminated the dates from their releases and apparently have VR On-Demand videos now. I can't raise an issue and question what's going on because they don't have a forum, so I have to deal with it or unsubscribe. It's a minor concern, but rather than attaching to only that viewpoint, I thought about it another way which relates to this thread. While there are things SLR/Dreamcam can do to improve, they are already more improved than other studios in some area (they have a forum/support staff). And while the cam girls may experience their share of short-term grievances, there are thousands of other workers experiencing long-term grievances from their employers, under more hazardous or laboring conditions. Putting things in perspective, acknowledging the good in the bad, and finding a compromising stance helps ease apparent concerns because it could always be worse. We are all going through these issues one way or the other, in public or in private. Really, we need just as much compassion with ourselves to be neutral sometimes after doing what we can, but that's just me and everyone operates differently which is normal. Sorry for the long response, but glad to have shared some input, and glad to know there are still humane beings out there ... even if we do watch porn 😄
