  • Multiple problems, can't download videos to Quest

Ooooookay. So, I subbed last month, and almost immediately after, the site seems to have gone through a bunch of changes and/or problems.

  • First, the videos broke. I'd been streaming through the Quest browser, and suddenly one day they were just all black screen, even though the time was counting up. This is still the case. And the SLR page doesn't even function in the Quest browser anymore normally, it forces you to go into a VR mode to use it. This should be optional.

  • I tried to get the SLR app and the DeoVR player, neither worked at all from the SLR site itself. Both dead links, would not download to the Quest. The "SLR app" link on the SLR site doesn't even take me anywhere unique, it's exactly the same as the DeoVR app link, so I don't know why you're even advertising that you have your own app - it's not available on your own site, let alone the Quest store page.

  • I then tried sideloading using apk files I found on my own. Neither the SLR app (mysteriously only available through sideloading!) or the DeoVR app worked this way. Both just endlessly showed those three white dots.

  • Finally got the DeoVR app through the Quest store page. Okay great, now videos actually work again. But the functionality is very stripped down and clunky, for example I can only use one tag at a time. Trying to use another overwrites the first one, instead of stacking them. But I CAN stack tags - if I search for them manually, which means typing in VR using the handsets. Over and over, since the app often resets to no search string.

  • The really big issue, though, is that I can no longer download any videos to the Quest directly. I had downloaded two of them before the site went berserk, but now neither the site in browser nor the DeoVR app interfaces show any video download in any menu. It's just not there anymore.

Bottom line, if I can't download, I'm gone. I don't buy games on Steam and then play them through the cloud. My internet service is lousy during times I could use SLR, so what I have to do is set up a download in the morning before work, and play the video offline later.

But maybe I missed the button somewhere?

That's not how the Oculus Quest works.

    Just checked, links work fine

You used the Android apk, not Oculus apk
    Mysteriously? What's mysterious about it?

    • for example I can only use one tag at a time.

We are reworking our search system, still working on the website though before we can implement it in the app.

Currently you can make these combinations.

You can't download from within the app, correct.
You can by using Oculus Browser / FireFox on your Quest or PC/MAC

We are a streaming service, like Netflix. Downloads are a curtesy.

OK, except Firefox does the same thing.

Not sure why you responded to something about the SLR app by showing a screenshot of the DeoVR app, unless they're the same thing, but your site has two links, so I'm going to say that's not the case?

      Mysteriously? What's mysterious about it?

Having an unusable link in the VR state is what's mysterious.

Yes, in both environments in which I get only black screen, I can do multiple tags.

Tried just now in both Oculus and Firefox browsers. I am unable to get to the page you show here. It goes from the grid of videos straight to the actual video, with no page in between. In both browsers. Instead of showing me that the download page exists, can you show me where the button is that takes me there?

Not from the perspective of my subscription, you're not. I saw download links available before I was subbed, they required me to have a paid subscription, and that is WHY I SUBBED. Putting the downloads behind a paywall by definition makes them a part of your service. So you are saying that you are not the service for me, fair enough.

Yeah, I mean, I've already unsubbed... your first reply up there was something really special. Been a long time since I've heard anyone in support be that defensive, and I used to have to call Comcast every other week! I just asked you a direct question and you are now refusing to field that question. That first post of mine may have had frustration in it, but it wasn't frustration with you, it was frustration at the service itself, which is not you. And then you bristled instantly, so I became frustrated with you.

I used to work at a store when I was in my 20s, and customers would often come to me frustrated that they couldn't find something. My response was, "Oh, no problem, here, let me show you where it is, follow me." I knew they were frustrated with the store layout, not me. What you just did up there, in response to me not being able to access your company's services and explaining what I'd gone through in detail, was, "No, I can see the ketchup isle from here, you can absolutely find it. See, here, let me show you a picture of the ketchup on the shelf!"

So as you did not respond to "how did you get to that page, I can't get there," you have completely failed as support staff. Direct question, easily answered but you'd prefer not to bother. If it sounds like I'm "making stuff up," it's probably because I have spent every evening this week doing the troubleshooting work you're too lazy to do, so at this point, a lot of stuff is a blur in my head, yeah? But go ahead, accuse the customer. And following this post, reply with an attempt at moral high ground again.

        Shameful.

Let me jump in, I see you managed to make your way into DeoVR app, which is recommended way to watch videos over streaming in VR browser.

Downloads are still in tact and aren't gone anywhere , try to clear your cache or disable adblock

Thanks Philip... I do recognize the download page by the way, it's what I've been hunting for, and I did end up figuring out how to get there on my own. When I would click on videos in Oculus browser, it would take me to a preview page instead of just dumping me straight into the VR immersive mode. Clearing cache didn't change anything just now, and I've never installed adblock on Quest, but I found an interesting workaround.

When I go to the main page, www.sexlikereal.com, it insists that I start up the immersive mode menu, which prevents me ever seeing that download menu. However, if I add something after, like www.sexlikereal.com/tags, it skips over this and actually lets me use the website itself normally. And then I was able to find the links in the old place. <-- This is the info you should pass to anyone asking about downloads, it is a silver bullet.

Another problem cropped up which I don't have a solution for, and by this point I was already VERY done with SLR thanks to your friend over there, but I'll go over that anyway.

It turns out the video I was trying to download was from the Japanese affiliate site. DeoVR is able to stream that video, presumably the main SLR site's forced immersive menu would be able to as well except for the black screen issue. But when I use the above trick to get to the SLR site's actual webpage content, the video vanishes. I can find it on the Japanese site, but it's a separate paywall. So when I unsubbed from SLR western version, I tried to make a new sub over there. And it turns out that - despite the fact I live in Japan - the Japanese SLR site will not accept an American credit card. Which, from poking around on this forum looking for answers, I know is not an issue you guys can solve on this end. I also know, from poking around, that the video creator, SodCreate, is known for not allowing downloads of their content.

Quite a mess, all of this. Broken browsers, workarounds requiring clever use of typed URLs, missing core features, an affiliate site that conflicts and overlaps with the main site... oh, I forgot to mention, your stars listing isn't even alphabetized, which was one avenue I tried to find a video and gave up when I saw no alphabetization and how many pages of them there are. This whole thing seems really similar to "early access" kickstarter video games, seems like there are still a lot of kinks to work out, yeah?

One thing I would recommend adding to your main site - in poking around on the forum, I kept seeing the same two links being posted over and over by Rakly and others, one was about not updating Oculus browser, the other was about limited/missing search functionality. Those are the sort of thing that should be plastered all over your site's front page. They are genuinely serious problems with your service, but info about them is squirreled away on your forum, which means they're not being announced to prospective customers. And that gives people a really bad taste when they pay for the service, find out how broken it is, and like me, decide to never come back. Put that stuff up front, and even if people don't sub right now, they'll keep you in mind in the future, and probably keep checking back to see how the site is coming.

If you solved all the issues I'm locking up the thread, thanks for the feedback

          Philip locked the discussion .
