• New 3.0.0 BETA App (Windows only)

Hey guys,
We've spent our last two month redesigning and re-factoring the video player. Smoother performance, new look, better codecs support and many new features.

NOTE: Experimental head-tracking disabled in the BETA, but will make it back eventually.
Some other bugs are possible  — please report them in this thread.

New features :
1. Draggable windows in the video player interface
2. Use pin/unpin icon
3. When you are dragging the window you can enlarge or size down the window
with left thumbstick
4. Switch to h265 right from the player
5. Player in now in same scene with interface, no more "loading something awesome".

We are still working on the controllers and some might not be calibrated yet.

Philip changed the title to New 3.0.0 BETA App (Windows only) .

This doesn't work for me. I'm on windows 10. It shows the loader for a few seconds then shows a black screen.

What headset are you using? Did the previous build work for you?

Yes the previous build worked. I'm on Pimax but I don't think it's related to my headset. My anti-virus also detected the installer as an virus so maybe it blocked some if it's features. I then tried disabling my AV and reinstalled the app but still having the same issue. I uninstalled the BETA and reinstalled the previous version and it worked.

Version 2 is now forcing me to update to version 3 which doesn't work for me. The gaze input no longer works in version 3. When I look down to activate it nothing happens. How do I keep version 2 without forcing update?

Thanks. Can you please fix the gaze input in version 3?. I would like to try the new version.

New version constantly refreshing on Video Select screen(Flashing whole screen on and off).
Today videos won't load or are loading very slowly.

        HTC Vive headset.

Also I can make the Settings/Interface screen(s) smaller/further away, but have to refresh to full size/closest to get them back. Is there a control to move them both in and out?

        HTC Vive Headset

Hovering the cursor above any video thumbail causes the App to become unresponsive for a few seconds.
SteamVR shows the following message "(unresponsive) SLR.dll"

Previous version was working without any issues.

Would this be the right place to offer non-bug feedback on the new Beta?
re: features & interface, etc.? Or in a separate post?

Philip Just want to offer a few thoughts on the new video player. Two steps forward, 1 step back, I think.
          * Using VIVE, Win 10 64bit, i5-4690 and MSI GTX-970
--- Like the new player settings interface and the ability to reposition it, and easily open and close the fine-tuning control windows.
---My #1 comment: With two Vive controllers you have easily 14+ buttons available, nearly all of which are completely ignored by the current player. Previous versions had nice functionality of the controllers, with play/pause, mute/unmute, and forward back mapped to the controller. Current version has frustratingly done away with most of that, instead of adding more! Using nothing but the Vive controllers and NO menu, I should be able to play/pause, mute/unmute, adjust volume, adjust tilt, height, zoom, horizontal and vertical offset. That's basic. Don't make me bring up the settings and transport menu unless I have to. And I shouldn't have to.
          ---Bring back head tracking!
---Dislike how difficult it is using the pointer to fine-tune some of the settings, like sharpness or saturation. If I only want a setting of +1.0, it's mighty hard to do; settings higher than that often just look bad. Let us fine-tune.
---when using horizontal or vertical offset sliders (and others), in previous versions the pointer would lock onto the control point so it was actually pretty easy to move the slider where you wanted it. In the current version the pointer no longer locks, and when the pointer "slips off" the slider, the setting jumps around a lot. It's more difficult to use now. (Of course, I shouldn't have to use the menu to do this at all - offset should be mapped to a controller button.)
---Love the new AB repeat. How about make the video preview match where the A/B sliders are, so there's less guessing at where you're setting the loop?
--- Like that the player is more robust now and no longer simply locks up when it encounters a local file that it can't play.
---In the main window, for chrissake add a QUIT button. You think we want the extra step of taking off the headset to find the mouse and swipe around the screen to quit the window when somebody's coming? NO, we don't. Put in a QUIT button, please.

Thanks for your time. SLR is slowly getting better!

            cramonty Dear cramonty.

            Great thanks for reply!

            1) Regarding controllers: All control input would be refactored. We are also going to add control settings. So users would be able to adjust input.
            2) Headtracking is already in new build. We will release it in a day.
            3) We have made image panel wider and decreased min/max values. So it should be a bit easier. We'll think about adding some buttons for fine-tune.
            4) We'll check horizontal/vertical offsets. Thank you.
            5) We will add quit button in further version...

            Best regards,
            devteam.
