Hey guys,
I'm a designer here at SLR and we're always working on updates for the app. I want to hear some of your opinions, let's discuss!

  1. If you don't use SLR app / DeoVR to watch - what do you use and why is it better? Is there anything we should bring from that app to SLR?

  2. What do you like in the current app? What don't you like?

  3. What's your other favourite app in VR?

Using DeoVR/SLR app on a Valve Index here with excellent hardware/all required codecs/updates/etc. Sorry in advance for the novel worth of text, most of the below will be minor complaints/issues I've come across, mostly since the 11.X updates:

1.) I use Deo/SLR apps about 80-90% of the time, otherwise I use HereSphere on occasions when I cannot get Deo/SLR to play downloaded files smoothly.

2.) I like the vast majority of things with the app: the simple & effective UI, it's smoothness and fluidity, the available options/settings, how easy it is to reposition the screen, and on and on. But I've had quite a few issues in recent months, with every single one of the below starting since the 11.X updates, that I would love to eventually be addressed:
    - general choppiness/stuttering that occurs on maybe 10-15% of app loads: this can usually be fixed by exiting the app and restarting, but on some occasions that is not enough. When I use HereSphere (for example), I never get choppiness/stuttering.
    - when selecting a downloaded scene to play, frequently (maybe 20% of the time) the video will "load" but not play. The screen will remain black, and you have to back out of the video to the menu again and reselect the scene. Sometimes I have to do this 6+ times before the video will properly load.
    - with the "original file" scenes ever since you started incorporating spatial audio: they are unplayable. The video of the scene will play (sometimes a bit choppily), and the audio will play, but they are never properly synced. They are always off my anywhere from 1/10's of a second to full seconds. I would love if there were a "spatial audio toggle" added to Deo/SLR so that I could turn this setting off, because as of now these files are worthless. There is a similar toggle for that when streaming, and it immediately solves the issue when turned "off".

3.) Again, I usually use HereSphere when I need an alternative, but even Play'A is capable of playing all sized files smoothly when Deo/SLR apps give me trouble with stuttering.

All this being said, Deo/SLR are still my go-to app, but I have been severely disappointed by some of the side effects of the 11.X updates, which I feel like have greatly hurt the app's overall effectiveness.

Thanks for replying so fast 😊
I'll talk with devs about the mentioned side effects - do you mind also sending this to support@sexlikereal.com ?Perhaps the guys know any tricks that I don't. I hope we fix this as soon as possible.

Any reason you don't use streaming? Is it because of internet speed or something else? Do you use the feed, searching, playlists, etc. at all?

[deleted] Ok, will go ahead and send it to support at some point too. Believe @Rakly3 had said a little ways back that he would bubble up these issues to the Devs as well.

I do frequently stream via Deo/SLR as well, but generally it's to check out whether scenes are "worth" downloading, or to watch scenes that I may enjoy but don't want to bother with downloading for whatever reason (only a small portion I enjoy, mediocre quality but with a model I'm interested in, JAV scenes, etc).

As a general rule I will always default to downloading and playing those downloaded scenes: don't have to worry about internet speeds affecting playback, get better overall bitrate and visual quality, and while I don't intend to let my SLR membership expire any time soon it is still a nice "security blanket" to have the downloaded files. The only benefit I enjoy with streaming vs playback is the "tags" within scenes to jump to types of action. I would love for these tags to also be available at some point when playing downloaded scenes from SLR.

And personally, I never use any of the feeds/playlists/etc. I've been a member long enough and explored enough that I always 100% of the time default to "new" and see what has been added.

Have used a lot of apps over the years but prefer Deo vr by far. It's a really nice app with a good ui and I never experience any playback issue's myself. Some recommendations for the app:
          - I also experience that about 10/20% of videos will not play at first. Closing the video and reopening fixes it though.
          - I'm frequently signed out of the app even though I have remember me checked.
          - The toggle that enables Jav video's constantly gets disabled even though I never do so my self (also on the website).
          - I'd like an option to ignore individual video's I'm not interested in. These could then be greyed out or hidden. That would also be a nice feature for the site.
          - Liked video's don't show a colored heart like on the site (same as for funscripts)
          - Like the addition of a playlist but it would be great to have the ability to play certain parts of a video e.g. a specific tag or a/b section.
          - Also reordering a playlist would be nice (doesn't necessarily have to be in the app)

[deleted] Thanks for mentioning support, but we do the forum too! πŸ™‚
Simple @ me, Borys or Yar πŸ˜‰

I may as well be honest:

            1) I use Heresphere. Nobody can match their picture quality and how well they scale videos. I think it would be very difficult to match what Heresphere does unless SLR becomes Heresphere based instead of DeoVR based. That would be difficult since Heresphere is a paid app, but they really are unmatched. Way out in front.
            2) I like the tight integration with SLR and the ease of use. DeoVR has the best UI and control scheme. I also like the password function. I do -not- like the stuttering that seems to be part and parcel of DeoVR now (improved in the latest version, only in alternate mode with directshow off, but still not perfect). This did not exist in previous versions and other players are stutter free. For this reason, I can't use DeoVR anymore despite being a former long time user.
            3) Again, Heresphere. Right now they are the VR player to beat. What they do so well (image/video quality) is quite complex and unique to them.

One thing I don't like about DeoVR is the high GPU usage. I have a Reverb G2 and a GeForce 2080 Ti, and when I run DeoVR at 100% resolution in SteamVR the GPU usage goes up to 90%, no matter what video I'm watching, and the fans go crazy, which is really annoying. Even at 50% resolution the fans are still disturbing.
For comparison, if I use the Whirligig VR player at 100% resolution, it does have a somewhat high GPU usage (around 50%), but the fans are pretty quiet anyway.
In the Windows task manager it says "GPU0 - Video Decoding" for Whirligig and "GPU0 - 3D" for DeoVR. I don't know if that explains anything.

Thanks this is great insights. Tags are not planned to be released for local playing anytime soon but perhaps we'll think about this sometime in the future.

                Thanks! This are great suggestions.
As mentioned above we'll try to figure out with devs why bugs keep happening.
Likes should be coloured on app now, we missed funscripts & will be added in the new update.
Some expanded playlist functionality should be coming later this year and hopefully options to hide some videos. Backend devs are pretty busy these days but it's for sure on to do list.

                Very interesting, thanks.
I haven't personally used Heresphere so I'll go check it out now. Glad to see you enjoy our UI, hopefully the bugs get fixed asap 😊

Interesting, I'll pass this on. Perhaps @Rakly3 knows more.

I been using the gizmo vr app

I know every one like the tilt function on the deo or slr, me too

But on gizmo i notice if im laying down and i hit the recenter on the player it sets the picture to my eye level and i notice when i play a video if the rig is set up right during filming production...i dont even have to use the tilt i just have to move my head up and down for all positions (while im laying down)

In deo i hit the recenter while im laying down but when i play a video i have to push down on the tilt to level the logos to my eye level.

Uhm, hope this makes sense πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

                Ok different topic....

                I love slr/deo its great

I got me a free month when yall did that free month for covid...

It was just for streaming tho, it was great, a awesome experience and streaming was A1 (i have a fast net)

But i was hoping yall could hook up a subscription for just streaming and it would be cheaper.

30$ a month still cheap plus we can download

But a subscription for just streaming and cheaper would be great, plus i wouldnt go bonkers over so many downloads, lol πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Thats one thing i hate about getting a subscription to vr studios, i feel i need to download all i can, then i have to delete files to make room.

Just give me a streaming subscription only and i'll be fine with that. πŸ‘

                I use a gear s10+ btw, it plays up to 6khd streamingπŸ‘...but im fine with 4k πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I mostly use DeoVR, because I really like that I can set up the left hand controller (Quest2) to control all of the important functions: moving the video up/down/left/right, zooming and skipping back and forward. That's basically all I need.

I mostly stream content from my PC over DLNA, because I like that the search-times are just a few milliseconds, compared to the considerable delay when streaming from sexlikereal over the internet. What I would REALLY like to see in DeoVR on the Quest2 is support for SMB (Samba), so that I can delete files. That is the only function I ever need to use another app for, and I would much prefer to do it in DeoVR.

Philip im sure it is, but i dont want the download option cuz i get a lil trigger happy downloading to much.

If i had just a streaming subscription i can just add videos to my favorites for later watch.

Plus slr stream works so great i really wouldn't need to download.

Lets see 30$ for a month stream and downloads

Half that for just streaming 14.99 would be good for me. πŸ‘, bet others would jump on that too.

Wikman I mostly stream content from my PC over DLNA

I use skybox for this, i tried deo but it was so confusing i couldn't get it to work so i stayed with skybox cuase it so simple, all i gotta do is log into my computer from skybox, so simple.

But it dont let me delete files off my computer, if it did would be big help.
