  • Oculus Go broken with latest SLR app release?

dog12398 Please use the DeoVR app on the Oculus Go app store. Not sideloaded.

    OK I did all that and now it senses the device and says "Deprecated" --- so I cannot install a working version of the SLR app anymore? Is Oculus Go not supported by SLR anymore? IS there any way to downgrade to a working version of the SLR app?

      I understand that at a certain point Facebook forces you to stop being able to develop for deprecated platforms. However as a goodwill gesture to your Oculus Go based monthly premium SLR subscribers (like me), you should provide a way to get to the last supported .apk version of the SLR app for the Go...even if it is with BAT files like the old days. This would be treating your customers better than Facebook does --- who just cuts them off when they have older hardware. I understand no further updates on the Go would be available for the SLR app....but I think there are still a significant amount of Go users who would benefit from this. Thanks.

      edit: did you uninstall SLR from your Go first and restart the device?

          OK I tried that too but it still says "Deprecated" when I use the SLR Quest installer and won't let me install anything now. I found a blog link that says the Go is no longer supported after May of 2021.....but is there a way to manually install the last working .apk file that still supports the Go? It was working fine like 2 days ago....I just want to roll back to that version. Thanks.

          Maybe a link to the older .apk files for SLR app and I can manually do an adb install from the command line?

            Rakly3 Hi, same thing happened to me. I used your SLR installer and not sideloading and the app was working perfectly until 3 days ago when I updated the platform. Now, it doesn't let me in citing that I need to update to the new Oculus software. I checked and can confirm that I am on their latest update. Please fix this as I am an SLR Premium subscriber and there isn't a reason for me to continue subscribing when I can't use my GO. Thanks.

                    Go to settings/ storage
                    Unknown sources
                    Click delete

                    To install I use Firefox reality browser
                    Install Firefox browser
                    Navigate to this thread
                    Click my link
                    Download
                    Select browser downloads
                    Click file
                    Select install
                    You may be asked if you want to use package installer to open, click yes
                    Installer is not vr friendly
                    Once the bar stops moving
                    Click the home button on remote
                    App should be installed

                    Alternatively
                    Install
                    Send files to TV app on your Go and phone
                    Open app on both with both on same WiFi.

                        Rakly3 I connected my GO with the SLR Quest installer and it still said "latest update installed". I clicked to update it anyway and tried it but the same thing still happened. Please advise.

                            Lionheart321 Wait before doing anything. I'll confirm it myself.
                            Wanted to do it yesterday but I hadn't used my Go in such a long time it took quite a while for it to charge.

                              This totally slipped my mind, the OGo uses the GearVR version. For now I recommend using the DeoVR app via the Oculus store v8.53

                              The .apk from our website nor from SideQuest will work for the OGo. It installs the Quest version.

                              The v9.2.x update was targeted specifically for the OGo. We have no plans to drop support for the OGo so far.

                                        Rakly3 I'm confused, so besides having to download and use the DeoVR app, there is no way to access SLR app with the Go?
