  • Experiencing Streaming Issues? Let’s Get It Fixed

SLR recommends a stable 30 Mbps (or higher) internet connection for the best VR porn experience. If you’re seeing buffering or slow speeds, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data (4G/5G), VPN or another network to see if your connection improves.
Run SLR Speedtest on different devices and networks.

For default setup use a supported headset with the latest firmware update and the latest DeoVR app version. Alternatively check WebXR by visiting sexlikereal.com in Meta Quest Browser or Apple Vision Pro Safari.
For WiFi users make sure you use up to date modem/router with the latest firmware.

Quick Checklist:

  1. Ensure at least 30 Mbps download/streaming speed with https://www.speedtest.net/ servers within a few hundreds of kilometers/miles range. Make sure to change immediate vicinity offered by default.
  2. Use VPN to test another location. Try also mobile data (4G/5G) or another network. It is fast and easy way to check if the speed will improve.
  3. Temporarily disable or adjust firewall/antivirus settings that could block SLR streaming
  4. Contact your ISP if speeds are consistently lower on SLR compared to other services.
  5. If you have tried everything above and want to make an extra effort contact SLR support providing your IP address to re-route you differently with Geo-DNS.

For areas with weak internet coverage, satellite options like Starlink can help.

Post your speed test results, including approximate location/region, to help us diagnose potential server or regional issues. Keep reporting as it really helps us to improve the services.

This is just my comment from the reddit thread copy/pasted-

I mean, these are all good points on things to look at if you're general internet speed is struggling, but here's my frustration personally: I get on average around 25mbps downloads from WankzVR/POVR. The same from BadoinkVR and NaughtyAmericaVR. Usually even a bit higher near 30mbps from CzechVR and VirtualTaboo. These are the download speeds I am getting as of literally right now, as I am typing this.

When I run the SLR speedtest I get usually around 25mbps download speeds. But here's the issue: I average around 3-3.5mbps average actual download speed with SLR. Like clockwork, 3-3.5mbps and never higher. And I can only assume the streaming is limited to the same, since it has been exceptionally choppy and constantly buffering for me lately.

This has literally only been an issue in the last week or so, never a problem in the whole time I've had SLR Premium before, which is why I and it seems like many others have brought it up on your site, since yes- in theory it could be a large number of us suddenly experiencing the same issue, but having a hard time believing it's not something on SLR's end.

Edit: using a VPN it briefly shot up to around 6mbps, then quickly dropped back down to around 3mbps.

Personally, on badoinkvr, I go up to 80/90MBps and on SLR, 25MBps.
The speed is therefore divided by almost 3 or even 4.
Well, I am not complaining for all that, 25MBps, it is already not bad, it goes very quickly, but there is still something which restricts the flow to a certain level.

doublevr Yeah, at this point I don't have any idea. I've tried every different hour of the day in case it was overloaded servers and I still never get an actual download speed of more than around 3mbps. Again, only an issue starting maybe 2 weeks ago.

SLR Speedtest #48552 was with VPN enabled: 131ms latency, 17.6mbps streaming, 28.9mbps parallel streaming

SLR Speedtest #48553 was without VPN enabled: 55.7ms latency, 29.0mbps streaming, 24.3mbps parallel streaming

Yet both with VPN enabled (in case it is my ISP throttling) and without VPN enabled, I get 2-3mpbs download.
Frustrating since I don't have this issue with any other studios other than here at SLR, and I'm basically at a loss as to why at this point.

So I've figured out my speed issue, and maybe this will help any other guys who are having a similar issue.

I was getting very slow (3mb/s) download/streaming pretty much no matter what I tried: with a VPN, without a VPN, trying a bunch of different SLR servers and various tests with Tony from SLR Support, etc. Nothing was improving it beyond the very slow speed, which was a pretty recent issue that came up in the past few weeks.

Just for fun to absolutely guarantee it wasn't an ISP throttling issue (even though I was already sure it wasn't), I downloaded a different VPN than the ones I'd tried before. Bingo, it worked.

That was literally the issue: it was my ISP throttling, but the problem was that the VPN services I had tried using to test this initially were various free or "sample" versions of their VPN, and had severely limited options as far as which servers you could select to use. So the servers that the free VPN's defaulted to were poor ones, and gave me entirely inaccurate info and slow speeds as a result. With an actual full VPN, I've tested a handful of the 100+ server options available with it, and so far every single one has been at the very lowest 3x as fast with MB/s download speeds from SLR.

TL;DR: even though I was sure it wasn't an ISP throttling issue, it was. And using an actual full VPN solved it.

So who has good VPN recommendations? I'm not having a speed issue with downloads here but streaming in other ways.

mikestwitness So I ended up going with HotSpot Shield myself. They had an inexpensive 3-year plan, reviews I read pointed to them as generally having the fastest download speeds, and they had a 45-day no questions asked refund policy, which I would have just used had it not solved my own issue with download speeds.

It's nothing fancy and no doubt there's probably better VPN's for others, but tbh for my own uses I didn't need anything too crazy. But there seems to be plenty of choices of providers that are all fairly inexpensive.

justsomedude101 Thanks, I need to find a chart that I saw a while back. It had many providers listed with many different factors and yes/no boxes. Things like selling user data, how long they keep records if they do, countries it is available in, mobile and desktop applications available, and many more.

I'll list it here if I can find it. If it's not too out of date.

            Very interesting case:

OK, so the issue was with Windows. Other devices were really fast on the SLR speed test, so I went searching for a solution. It turned out Windows was throttling my browsers to <30Mbps.
I followed the instructions here: https://www.ghacks.net/2016/08/05/windows-10-limiting-internet-speed/
I set "global autotuning level" to "Normal" and now I'm getting 100+Mbps on the SLR speed test and 300+Mbps on the cam server.
Really strange, and this actually helped a lot!

              2 years later

doublevr I tried this and it actually decreased my download speeds substantially. I went from 120MB/sec to only 20MB/sec speeds.

doublevr what that article on the link you quoted suggested changing, the auto-tuning settings

Followed the steps outlined just like in the instructions and it immediately dropped my download speeds. As soon as I reverted back the settings to normal my speeds jumped back up. That's it.
