There's plenty of bad things to be said about uk government, has been for long time, but to be fair these new laws making depicticting under 16 in step relations and making strangulation illegal is a good thing. I agree the grey area is the annoying part, as grasshopper said it would be annoying if they start lumping in content that is fine, just because of asthetics.
With the strangulation though, I'm more annoyed at all the studios posting content with it. Most of the time it happens once and lasts just seconds but makes the whole video illegal, and it's not like it's a bdsm video, normally it just something like a simple gfe video. It's just so unnecessary for them to upload it as noone would care if they cut out those 3 seconds. Again the laws are right to ban it, and what really suprises me is that with nov 6 not being that far away now, new scenes are still getting posted that have it. Surely it would be better if slr told the studios to edit literally seconds out of their videos before uploading to spare them having to go back and edit them in the future, which would be a lot of effort, or risk having the videos taken down after nov 6.
With videos that have been up for a while, so understandable they may not be on par with new laws, I figured I'd quickly skim through a bunch to see how many might be at risk of being illegal. I figured I'd go through videos with Zazie Skymm (sorry to her for being used as an example), because she has a lot of vr content with multiple sites including not on slr itself. Of 40 (i planned to do more as she does have alot, but spamming the arrow keys to do 10 sec skips to be quick started hurting lol) 19 of them might be illegal from nov 6. Some of them she was obviously being strangled so clear cut, but most were brief 1 to 3 second squeezing, sometimes multiple times over the the video, where maybe someone wants to argue that is not enough. But the law does say images depicting strangulation is illegal, so to be safe people should assume that if they paused the video at any point during those few seconds it could be seen as depicting strangulation, the throat is getting compressed even if brief. There was 1 scene where it was just the hand placed around the throat without squeezing, so maybe that can argued against depiction but it does look a little too close like it, so again should assume the worst to be safe. So of 40, 19 might be illegal from nov 6, and a lot of them are currently on slr, the rest are from studios that don't upload here. That was a lot so I did quick skim through of 15 scenes with Melanie Marie, as I mentioned a scene of her in an earlier post as an example, and 3 scenes were potentially strangulation. Not as many, only 20% compared to almost 50%, but that is still a lot. I was spamming the 10 sec skip aswell to be quick so I probably missed some so the number could be higher still - trying to spot something that maybe only lasts seconds in a 30min or 1 hour long video is difficult when skimming through. Take this all with a pinch of salt but it still goes back to what is slr planning to do with what seems to be a significant number of old uploads that potentially have strangulation. Again even a quick squeeze and release is depicting it, as even one frame or image of it is illegal as far as the law is concerned.
It just goes back to what are slr and the other studios planning to do? Debating whether the laws are good or bad doesn't change the fact they will be implemented. So when they do start on nov 6 can slr say whether or not they will be making sure new uploads are safe and what do they plan to do with the old videos? Where eventhough what I quickly skimmed through should be taken with a pinch if salt, and perhaps a question of interpretation, there's still clearly a risk of potentially illegal content that could be on this site on nov 6 if slr don't do anything. If slr wants to wait and see if the laws are actually enforced that's fine, it's their choice. But it would be bad to also pass that risk on to uk users who may download or stream a new or old video on this site that may make them possess illegal material unknowingly. It's really a question of can uk users trust slr from nov 6, so slr can we trust you to be safe for uk users?
