RED Camera Scene announcement

DannySLR

We're excited to announce that our first scene shot on a RED camera drops at midnight PDT on April 16!
RED's larger sensor captures significantly more detail, paired with RED's well-known color science for accurate skin tones and high dynamic range.

We're expecting a solid quality upgrade overall, with richer detail and more accurate colors. Let us know what you think!

Unfortunately the editing style of the trailers are unwatchable - But before my brain switched off completely before terminal overload, i noticed crushed blacks. and distance issues... however it would be nice to see proper preview that isn't edited by a 10 year old on a Haribo high 🙂

After these 2 superb scenes i thought you finally had it sorted as these had incredible colour and closeups and overall amazing image quality:-

... but i guess you have to crowbar in a camera that cost a lot of money just for the sake of it. - Hey ho just ignore the positive feedback on those scenes - For all i know it could be the same camera but the trailers are so bad it's hard to tell.

Please release a proper preview as i can't watch that shit !

DannySLR Does that mean all other scenes filmed after this one were shot on RED? Such as the upcoming harem scene?

Adrianvr

g2kbuffetboy It doesn’t - it was a test shoot to evaluate a RED camera that was specifically modified by the manufacturer for VR filming.

g2kbuffetboy

Adrianvr Ahhh I see. Well, I guess that means SLR should film another harem in a few months then, right? 😇

Adrianvr Modified to improve the focus?

zzyhorde

Looks quite amazing IMO. Would love to see more scenes with this camera. Also kudos to continuously striving for innovation and progress!!

zzyhorde

Is this the same camera used by VRSpy already?

jojo321

+1 amazing looking camera, keep it!

Adrianvr

zzyhorde it is not

Adrianvr

dolphin7559 not really, modification aims to improve sharpness and micros-details.

jommy

Really cool that you lot are continuing to try new hardware and push the limits!

How is this gonna compare to URSA? Maybe easier to film with?

diwanga

Calling scale / framing / focus issues here first.

zzyhorde

Adrianvr details in the closeups look incredible! really impressed by it.
How would I be able to tell if a future scene uses this camera?

dolphin7559

zzyhorde Use your eyes. Also look for the bad camera position relative to the guy's body.

DannySLR

zzyhorde Thank you for the feedback! We will tag scenes shot on the RED in future.

DannySLR

jommy It's fundamentally different cameras and it's hard to directly compare them side by side. For VR filming for now RED gives us better control of the focus

DannySLR

zzyhorde Thank you for your feedback!
