More and more scenes in DeoVR are only available in 1080p

How do I fix this if I watch VR videos in browser? Doesn't matter the browser, incog/private or normal, 1080p is only available.

When I try to switch to H265, the video just reloads and instantly switches back to 264 and max 1080p resolution. Deo VR, Win 11, Index. It shouldn't be a codec issue as I can play downloaded 265 files no problem. Oh, and my internet shows as about 360mbps on your speed test.

Zenbobin is there a specific video that you are having an issue with or does this persist on all videos?

Kieshi All videos I've tried it on will switch to H264. The 1080p depends on the video, older ones that were encoded in 264 at the higher resolution work fine, but most of the new ones are pinned at 1080.

It's quite frustrating as 1080 in VR looks awful, like a video you'd see online in the 00s.

Zenbobin same issue for me on Windows with Pimax 5k. When trying to switch to H265, it circles through different resolutions and never starts playing the video. Playing downloaded H265 videos by browsing them through DeoVr file explorer works fine.

bingboo I think this issue has existed for a very long time, but people didn't notice it because H264 videos were still available in high quality and H264 was the default selection.

Any word on this? I am having the same issue as Zenbobin, where it switches back to H264 and 1080p if I try to put it on 265. I downloaded the codec pack from microsoft. Everything is up to date. Windows 10. I have searched several forums for an answer. It is inconvenient that DeoVR seems to be the only platform to view your site using Index.

I registered to the forum just to ask for help with this. Your site has been excellent and the only porn I pay for but I can't do 1080p and will unfortunately unsubscribe if I can't resolve this. Thank you for your effort

I don't think it is a codec issue nor is it a headset issue. A new video with a thumbnail that says "8k" will only have a 1080p option when played via DEOVR on Steam with PC -- tested headsets: Pimax direct cable. Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop, Galaxy XR via VD.

Example 1: video from June 9 2026 "Cheerleader Kait & Talulah Get You Alone" video 89662 which has thumbnail stating 8k, and download 8k.

--That video when played on DEOVR on SteamVR PC will only play 1080p
--That video when played natively on DEOVR on Quest 3 app and DEOVR for Galaxy XR app will play at 4096p.

A few more clues: that video when played back from SLR website on Firefox 'click play button' I get resolution option only showing 1080p. HOWEVER when clicking playback on SLR website on web browsers Chrome, DuckDuckGo, or MS Edge I get options all the way up to 4096p.

Example 2: When playing a movie from 1 year ago e.g.: "Sex in the car with Adriana" video 49915 which has thumbnail stating 8k, and download 8k.

--it plays in DEOVR on PC with headsets Quest3/GalaxyXR, Pimax all in resolutions up to 4096p.
--it plays on all web browsers (including Firefox) it offers playback up to 4096p resolution as well.

Example 3: If I go back to videos from four months ago e.g.: "Bree Sky Loves Sloppy Head" video 80441, which has thumbnail stating 8k, and download 8k.

--That video when played on DEOVR on SteamVR PC will only play at 1080p, 1440p, and 1940p
--That video when played natively on DEOVR on Quest 3 app and DEOVR for Galaxy XR app will play at 4096p.
--Firefox playback is limited to resolutions up to 1940p as well, although other browsers offer playback at higher resolutions up to 4096p

Notes: Win11, RTX 5090, Active premium SLR membership. Signed into app and websites for testing.

@doublevr I just wanted to give you my thoughts.

I'll come clean and tell you that the ability to leverage my SLR subscription and stream the latest videos in highest resolution on DEOVR is a primary consideration when purchasing a high-end headset. For that reason right now I would not consider purchasing Pimax Dream Air or any other PC tethered headset despite the use of cutting edge panels/lenses. I assume that you want to discourage downloading videos (limiting 30 downloads per 6 days) and only allowing 1080p streaming on the latest videos on PC DEOVR seems to run contrary to this. It's a bit disappointing because I was hoping that by now there would be a better platform than Quest 3 for streaming visuals. I just tested Galaxy XR and the headset has issues with lenses/processor.

Anyway I hope you get this resolved as there are plenty of PC users that leverage SLR subscription and would like to enjoy streaming the latest videos--especially now that hard drive prices are so damn expensive.

I think I have a fix. While playing a video there is a settings button on the right side of the video. Not the global settings, the ones that let you adjust the currently playing video. One of the options is to select a resolution. If you change the resolution of a single video, it will let you select a higher resolution for other videos too.

EDIT: The fix was actually to switch to H.265 instead H.264. Doing that for a single video seems to allow me to choose a better resolution for every video.

TNG2 yeah, but the whole point of this thread is that switching to H265 doesn't work when using DeoVR on PCVR

bingboo just an update: SLR on PC VR is basically unusable since early 2026 (or whenever H264 was removed)
