Hi - hoping the community can help here.

I used to be able to stream H265 videos at 90+ FPS in the SLR app. Now I can't. When trying to enable H265, I can see the resolutions run down from the largest to smallest, then H265 turns off and the stream starts back up at H264 and 60 FPS.

I can play local H265 videos fine, the only problem is with streaming. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing LAV filters. I also downloaded the HVEC codec from the Microsoft Store. No luck. I have a new PC (Core i7, GTX 2080, 32gigs of RAM). My headset is a Windows Mixed Reality headset (I use Steam VR).

Suggestions would be really appreciated. I saw a few other threads on this topic from a years ago but nothing in those have worked.

mobiwan83 Try installing k-Lite Standard or higher.

Once installed, go to start menu in windows, type codec tweak tool.
General: Fixes, checkmark all available options. Apply & close.
Miscellaneous: Various Tweaks. They should be checked. Changing these settings can make your system hang for a couple seconds.
Win7DSFilterTweaker: Preferred decoders: set H.26x and mpg related to LAV.

EDIT: Just saw your support ticket, mind if we continue this via mail?

Thanks for this! I just responded to you on mail. Issue isn't resolved but yes, let us continue this discussion there.

    Hi there,

I have the same issue as the OP. H265 videos won't play (stalls at just a frame or 2). I've tried uninstalling klite, hevc extensions, reinstalling them, and applying the codec tweak tool fixes per your suggestion, but still to no avail. Any other ideas? I'm using SteamVR as well with WMR (HP Reverb G2) with an Nvidia RTX 2070S.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same issue. I've purchased microsoft's HVEC codec, but videos are still downgraded to H264 after seemingly trying out lower resolutions. I cannot play 90Hz videos, or 120Hz or set it to H265

I have this issue as well. There has to be an other fix than reinstalling my whole operating system?

      K-Lite and HEVC Extensions installed.

doublevr If you stop windows support via Steam or any other windows device, you may as well kiss your business goodbye.

You cannot sustain a business model based on Quest, thats just stupid. Forget Apple, you may get 0.1% of them (very low volume) that might look occasionally, but you already killed off quest 1 headset, if you do the same for windows, then we may as well now cancel our subscriptions

At this rate, we may as well all go back to VRPorn website.

What percentage of users do you think have such devices?

They should be able to retrieve the information from DeoVR, but as an estimate, I would say 65 % of their paid subs are Quest (all versions), 33% are Windows based devices (HTC Vive, Value Index, Occulus Rift) and 2% or less are Apple/cardboard/Go
