To a large degree, I agree with you.
I'm not sure how much it is immunity vs anonymity? Ie like this is their lil spot, and their "boss" doesn't monitor their interactions.
To make up a comparison, say you go to Mc Donald's, the cashier tells you to "stfu loser", that particular shift manager doesn't GAF if they lose "just one customer", and the store manager never knew it happened because you, the person who told to stfu, never got past the staffer and the shift manager who doesn't GAF. But "Todd" the store manager would fire the cashier and shift mgr if word got to him, and "jim" the regional manager over 10 stores would shitcan the cashier, the shift manager, and "todd" the store mgr because its his job to know what happens at his store.
On the flip side of this coin, as you say, this is a porn site... So it doesn't often attract the most articulate or intelligent "customer". And I imagine that can be quite frustrating for the staff in the boards.
There is however a lack of communication on the initial problem/bug/fix/solution. Example, in my profession, mRI machine hoes down, I tell the customer "it will get fixed when it gets fixed, now stfu." Vs "hey here's the deal. This danfoss controller shit the bed, its obsolete now too, so we can't just replace it and move on. We are looking into other controllers that can read these transducers and sensors, but so far everything else that can read this equipment communicates on a different baud rate, so it won't talk to your monitoring. You can use the thing still, but unfortunately you need to keep the duty cycle doen to 30% or you'll cook the radial magnet."
