Apologies, I did not see there was a separate thread on this. I agree with @quest2mfp , this is a huge disappointment and a sad way to treat your users.
OSR-type devices are the most capable ones on the market. And MFP support with SLR, made it a first rate experience, unmatched by anything else out there. What I appreciate about SLR as a company is that you truly want to push this tech to the cutting edge. This is in the exact opposite direction.
I have an SLR life membership for scripts and video, and this feels like I'm being given the middle finger.
If SLR is willing to build a first class script playback experience for OSR devices to where MFP is not needed anymore, that's awesome, but it's not where we're at today. And it isn't right to just turn off this key capability and just ask everyone to wait until it might be better at one point. If this is the direction SLR wants to take, why not leave MFP alone until you have parity?
I understand the concern around piracy. But this isn't new - when you look across the landscape of tech companies dealing with copyright protection, a balance needs to be struck. There are so many examples of companies that have ens****fied their products in the name of preventing piracy, only to anger their customer and drive them away. We don't want SLR to go this route.
I really hope SLR does the right thing here for their users. @doublevr
