@doublevr Please address this point. I agree with you, only a tiny fraction of your users are going to download 40+gig files, so why worry about it? The cost is negligible.

The pennies you are going to save on bandwidth is NOT worth the damage you're doing to your reputation. Just let the handful of power users download the massive original files. Our hard drives will fill up eventually, and we'll be back to streaming/downloading the smaller (more convenient) versions in no time (assuming you re-encode them properly).

This fight is not worth having. Please SLR, don't die on this hill.

I want to support SLR, but they keep on making bad decisions similar to Xbox Division of Microsoft (Games Pass is a disaster for gaming).

I wanna spend money but SLR have removed the incentive to spend it, WTF sort of business practice is that ?

I''ll say it again - 'Build it and they will come' - The guys that love this format will do what they can to support it but don't squeeze and push people away for no reason.

Just create a high quality product that people love and they will support you and don't over expand to early into areas that the majority of your users couldn't care less about. Wasted server space that may be impacting VR users by decreasing the bitrate of SLR Originals.

Also, don't antagonise you customers, it won't end well....

Have a 'Sale' on individual scenes or some sort of promotion to excite people... this used to happen all the time but things are very stale lately ! Just my opinion tho 🙂

Hey... at the end of the day no one gives hoot what i say... just trying to help as i think SLR have incredible potential and indeed have made some of the best VR scenes i have ever seen.

However i think i have been asking for Kiara Cole to return for about 25 years now.... maybe a bit less

At least Badoink have filmed her and promise a return, also an awesome 3 girls and guy just released - Wow awesome casting... i think that was about 30gb. so roughly translated about 6gb file for SLR lool

Quick context: these 10% including single file downloads are also 30% more on churn - and more downloads the higher churn. So we’re tuning the product to serve our core users and giving a fair deal for those who want to download as current sub logic is clearly exploited by heavy downloaders.

Just thinking it might be a good time for change after we roll out a new SLR with updated plans:
• Downloads on new plans capped at 15 per month, including up to 3 master files and AV1. Extra bonus - all the plans include sex toy scripts. Existing long-term loyal users keep higher allowances close to today’s. Single PPV purchase gives affected users unlimited download possibilities and probably some sex toy scripts with it.
• Streaming quality bitrate bump to 50 Mbps on new encodes, with older files getting upgraded as we reprocess.
• We keep shipping features and state-of-the-art SLR Originals all the time with incredible to-do list which we soon start landing

We hear the “don’t antagonize customers” point. The goal isn’t to squeeze – it’s to make SLR feel undeniably better to use every day. Hold us to it, and keep pushing us where we miss.

I just don't see the logic here, you are acting like every download is costing you $1 when in reality you are still profiting even if those people max out downloads. The number of light-downloaders or no-downloaders vastly outweighs the number of people that download often, you said it yourself

I could understand if SLR had no download limits, but that is nowhere near the case

Every business has heavy users, it's expected - the vast majority of customers are not heavy users so you end up in profit, so why keep lowering the download limits? It's very poor business and will result in more churn, which you seem concerned about

And it gives SLR a bad reputation of constantly lowering the downloads limit and removing features, while also increasing prices

I don't use downloads often, but I am still gonna fight any changes because it's a load of crap sprinkled in glitter to try and convince people it's a good thing

When I see heavy use customers in my business I think: "wow they must really enjoy it, that's great!" - the first thought process for SLR seems to instead be: "How can we kick out the heavy users and increase profits by 0.001%?"

Too be honest it just looks like every user is gonna be affected by this negatively including myself, but i will leave it to others users to point out their particular issues as everyone will be affected differently.

So for the sake of 'thinking it might be good for a change', seems like quite an odd thing to do and good luck with attracting newer subscribers unless you reduce the price to match the downgrade in service.

Also the prospect of re-encoding older files fills me with dread as some of them are perfect as they are and to potentially downgrade those from 120mbs to 50mbs doesn't really appeal to me personally - But i guess if you use the Original Source File to re-encode these files they might look ok, maybe release a test file alongside the original file for user feedback ?

Anyway, i'll leave it there and see where this goes.

Silly-Sausage He's specifically talking about streaming quality bitrate, which I don't think is anywhere near 120Mbps at the moment (that's the download-only master quality), or ever was for that matter. Essentially as I understand it the highest quality non-master encode will be increased to 50Mbps

Also, since AV1 is mentioned, does this mean master quality downloads for scenes currently locked behind PPV options will be free (within that limit), or are you talking about specifically AV1 streaming quality encodes? And, since you're talking about increasing streaming quality bitrate to 50 Mbps, does this mean that "master quality streaming" which you teased quite a while ago as "coming soon" has been abandoned as a project?

doublevr I have previously praised the current SLR originals for reaching top tier quality, not referring to the latest extremely low bitrate scenes (such as the one with Hazel Moore which I haven't watched because Im not into PT) but rather the Nash/John Strong and the SLRO latina productions of the last months.

However the 30 Mbps cap does seem to affect it negatively which is sad considering the otherwise great quality of your recent scenes, so personally I am happy if there will be a higher Mbps streaming standard as well as a higher bitrate download option. I might want to download a few favorites (mostly because I experienced internet before the streaming era, and being able to "hold on to" your favorite things just feels better) and the old 120 Mbps files seemed a bit excessive to me, the competition has around 50-90 Mbps as well. The latest Melanie Marie VRSpy scene was one of the best VR scenes I've watched in terms of quality (and that was a 50ish Mbps version I believe)

You have a lot of great scenes coming up based on the SLR Backstage Pass thread, so I'm hoping the bitrate increase happens before most of those go live

something i noticed in the past pushed users away from slr and degraded its reputation is the removing of features. Features they thought they signed up for like the high quality downloads, drive, 10 script downloads rather than 3... Imo best slr focuses on what they can add to the platform, not what can they take away. Like someone mentioned removing things aint worth the hit on its reputation, what it does is push people away and makes other sites look more attractive.

I think we are running things very responsibly. Again we keep things unchanged for a legit download users downloading things here and there. The change is affecting only heavy downloads high churn users.

There is currently a download limit (150 per month) which SLR calls 'fair use'. By definition, ‘unfair use’ is impossible because users cannot exceed the fair use limit even if they wanted to. Yet you keep implying that anyone downloading more than zero videos is somehow a problem - as if they’re harming other users - when in reality they’re fully within the rules you created.

If you want to get rid of downloads, just say so and do it. That’s your choice, and nobody can stop you. But don’t invent imaginary abusers or blame customers who are following your rules to the letter.

doublevr I seem to be the only one here actually liking your proposal 🙂 The way you structured it seems fair to me, 15 normal files + 3 HBR files per month should fit the need of most. WIthout those 3 HBR files it would have felt like you guys only take stuff away, but as proposed I actually think it's fair.

I'm not sure I even understand those people who want to download more than that. Are there really that many videos that you guys find so hot that you just need to download them? Or is it 'fear of missing out'? Why would you want to have that many videos anyway? I mean if you have some time to enjoy porn, don't you immediately want to skip to the hottest vids anyway? So why would want to have this huge library of vids where you most likely will only be jerking off to a few of the hottest vids anyway?

Rule 1 of management is to allocate costs there where they are actually made. So if downloading extra mb's costs SLR money, it's a good decision to do something with that, give a number of downloads for free and offer extra downloads for extra payment for people who want more. It's just the best way to run a business.

harigeharry You realize that the 3 HBR file limit very likely will not be restricted to new SLRO scenes, but rather apply to everything, i.e. even old SLRO and non SLR produced scenes, which are currently not handled any differently than "regular quality" versions. A good indicator that this is the case is looking at new.sexlikereal.com, where already you cannot access HBR downloads of any scene for free, even if they are available on the current site, c.f. https://www.sexlikereal.com/scenes/asmrtist-in-residency-44986?tab=downloads which offers a free download for the 60GB HBR while the download button on https://new.sexlikereal.com/scenes/asmrtist-in-residency-44986 results in this pop-up.

harigeharry Do you think its fair for you to pay an yearly subscription that costs you 100 dollars and then pay even more 7 dollars per video to see slr videos with HBR? I dont think its fair. I prefer to pay 150 dollars on yearly subscription and have available the HBR image quality video than have what SLR is offering right now. Its just too greedy to ask for extra money to have access to HBR videos.

Do that on other videos rather than on SLR videos.

I'm here for SLR videos and to see them in the highest quality possible.

It's kinda weird that you are liking his suggestion of removing features and not giving us anything new. We used to have full access to HBR file downloads but now it's paywalled. Download limits of new users are 90% lower than current users (150 vs 15/month). What do we get in return for these lower limits? Nothing, in-fact they decided to reduce the bitrate

Rule number 1 of using the internet, things can and will be deleted - so if you like any videos or if they look interesting, you download them

It's not unheard of for an entire studio to remove all videos from SLR in one-go

You cannot download them all in the <1 month warning time-frame. Just look at when the trans section got gutted, hundreds or thousands of videos gone with minimal warning, no time to download the best scenes (if you don't visit the forums, you wouldn't even know they were being removed)

There's a lot of studios with 300+ scenes uploaded on SLR and the list is only going to grow with time

If you wanted to download 300 scenes it'll take 20 months at the 15 scenes/month limit..

If you are lucky enough to have 150 downloads/month then it still takes 2 months of constant downloading, not enough time if the studio leaves SLR

SLR's scene catalogue is growing by 685 scenes per month according to the sign-up page so the download limits, both new and old, are a tiny drop in comparison to what's available

So i'd prefer to download those scenes while I still can

harigeharry 6 months down the line, there would be harigeharry_2 who'd be agreeing to 5 normal files per month with 1 HBR file and calling it "...should fit the need of most".
Give it another 6 months and it'll be 2 normal files with no HBR files with harigeharry_3 agreeing with the same.
Another 6 months and the download button is sunset!

To be frank, please do not gaslight us paying users. We all are different and follow differing viewing habits. What works for you need not for someone else. It is subjective and will remain that way.

It was the naivety of youth that have killed video gaming IMO by saying 'Game Pass' is the greatest bargain ever without having the foresight of Microsofts intentions and now they are realising their mistake but it's too late.

I surely understand that when you get something for free at first and then they take that away, that that sucks. But you should understand that you were freeloading on everybody else and that you surely can't expect that to go on forever. Like said, it's good business practice to allocate costs there were they are made. If you want to download insane amounts of data, sure, go ahead, but YOU should pay for that, not others like me who barely download. That only makes sense, no?
