doublevr If that's the case and its so low then why do you even limit downloads in the first place? If you ask me, if it really is that low then letting people download freely should have very little impact on servers then? How about your team tests this and removes download limits moving forward? Seems to me that this is the only way to truly prove downloads are as insignificant as your team makes them out to be.

I’ve downloaded a few of my favorites as I sometimes bring my Quest 3 on business trips and the hotel internet can be sketchy.

Is there another reason to download? The resolution doesn’t seem to be any better but maybe my settings are wrong.

Who wants to download a 17mb bitrate crappy out of focus file that you provide now for your SLR originals? Not me. The least you could do for your subscribers was giving us a decent bitrate... I joined this site because of the high quality videos you had. Now I dont see any of that.

Even the streaming quality is crap with extreme lag because of your deovr app. Where is the new app?

And what happen to SLR Drive? Dont see any news of that either.

If you make the original/HBR files available for streaming, I would also not use the download option anymore. Until then, I need the download option.

Users who post on forums like this are the 'power users' (usually). It's extremely important to hear their thoughts because even though they may per data at least be a vocal minority, they are often the vanguards of the more quiet masses. Nevertheless, that even with VR most users just want to watch something and not worry about downloading, saving to a specific esoteric folder buried among system files so a spouse may not find out, taking the time to carefully navigate there, accidentally picking out the wrong movie and thus starting over is a safe assumption that seems to reflect the observation @doublevr made.

So of those ~10% who download videos, what's the average number of downloaded videos per month? Or even more granular, what's the cut-off point for being in the top 5%, top 1%, 0.1% etc.? Would be interesting to know if there's generally just a big dichotomy between a large minority who don't download at all and a small but not insignificant group who download a lot or if there's big differences within the downloader group

phiber Look for the data insights thread, it contains some numbers from about a year ago. According to this, there are only around 5% of users downloading more than 25 videos per month (limit at that time was 150 per month).

With SLR, having a lifetime account and a good conection meens I never download, just stream via DEOVR on Q3 as it's convenant (as long as no server issue), don't need to fuss over files for device scripts ect just click and it works. With other services I download, but with SLR it's simple, works and plenty of new content, and with videos that you like just save to playlists for when you want to rewatch, only thing I don't like with DEOVR player is resetting posstion if you are laying back in bed, it always seems to go at an odd angle.

SchnuppiLilac I think "only" is the wrong word here, since that would mean about half of the group which downloads things at all actually download a lot, meaning that the removal of downloads (which this post clearly wants to justify) would actually majorly affect a sizable group of subscribers

If you only stream:

You get lower bitrates, lower image quality and more buffering
You lose access to hundreds of videos as studios leave or licenses expire or scenes are pulled because someone said a bad word or took a sip of alcohol
You have to use DEO instead of the (still) vastly superior Heresphere
You may get memory errors which require a hardware reboot
You don't have easy immediate access to scenes not on SLR
If SLR disappears or you stop subscribing or porn is legislated into oblivion, you are left with nothing

I'm one them! And a lifetime sub (SLR, VRB+ARPorn, WankzVR+POVR) so technically I shouldn't bother. But I download because:

I hate pixelated blocks, artifacts, and crushed blacks/dark colors (common with streaming even at highest quality).
I enjoy Heresphere more than Deo TBH (only drawback is it still uses the old Handy API that requires uploading the script, but meh).
My motto is "fuck the WEF and the EU" so I'LL OWN THINGS AND BE HAPPY. I fucking hate this new trend of "pay us for a license to barely watch or use the thing".
Preservation. Too many productions are being censored years after the original release. So it's either legally paying and downloading a copy for personal use, or feeding the piracy machine 🤷
